front suspension rattle and squeak
I have a rattling noise in the front suspension of my 2002 evolution coupe. It appears to be the front shock valves. Has anyone else had this problem? The shocks are on back order right now, which may be indicative of a problem.
There is also a squeak which appears to be the inner control arm bushings or the sway bar bushings. Does anyone have a remedy for this.
It's a shame my nice new car sounds like a very old one!

What does the noise sound like and where is it? I will be very surprised that your shocks are causing the problem. MB shocks are very good in general, but you'll never know, maybe this is a pair of defects.
About the squeaking noise, does it occur when you're going over small bumps? If yes, I am pretty sure that its the sway bar bushings. Since 2002, MB has come up with 3 versions of sway bar bushings already, just bring your car to the dealership and ask them to get you a pair of the '03 bushings (it should be covered under warranty).

The rattle is at all speeds and even minor road surface irregulatities.
I checked the hood for fit last night and found one of the latches needs adjustment. Maybe this is the noise.

It's the bushings....
just bring it to the dealer and have them replaced...

im going in on wednesday for the same problem. they refer this problem as "the clunk from the front". my service advisor said they may have to replace the bushing, but sometimes its the end link also. when i get it back, i'll keep you all posted. i believe both the bushings and end links have been replaced with a new updated part, so i hope i get new end links too. HEHEHE!!!

Same problem here. I'll be going to the dealer later this week. It happens at all speeds on almost every surface.

Yep, same problem here... except on mine it was a lubrication issue on the rear stabilizer bar. A few bucks worth of silicone paste and voila, no squeaks.

They replaced the front sway bar bushings and end links which solved the problem. They also replaced the transmission which solved the difficulty in shifting into first gear when stationary.

Front Suspension Squeaking
I just searched the board and found this thread. I noticed my coupe's front suspension squeaking this past weekend. I will make a service appointment tomorrow.
