Question H&R Cupkit or Coilovers for C-Coupe?

I am trying to decide between the H&R cupkit and H&R Coilovers.
Actually I am shooting for the coilovers but have the cupkit as my fallback option.

I still have the stock C7 wheels with Continentals.

I've heard some say I will need wheel spacers if I choose the coilovers. Will I?

Are the rears hieght adjustable too or do you just adjust with the spring pads 1-4?

H&R describes the cupkit as a stage 3.5 and the coilovers as a stage 4. This to me seems like the coilovers will be a harsher ride but not by much more than the cupkit. Is this correct?

I was used to driving around in a Civic with Koni yellows and neuspeed race springs so I can deal with some harshness.

I'd be all for the cupkit if it lowered the car a little more (like it does on the car it's made for).

How out of wack does the camber get on the coupe when using the cupkit verses the coilovers verses stock?

What kind of ride are you looking for? The cupkit is very close to a stock ride. The drop is very nice. For my taste, the cupkit is too soft, so it will all depend on what you are looking for. The biggest difference between the 2 is that the COs are height adjustable so you can dial in the perfect drop.

i think you should go with the coilovers- especially if you didn't mind the ride on your civic and like how much it was lowered.

like kwik said- the cup kit does feel like stock and i wish it lowered the coupe a bit more. i had a del sol with a similar set up to yours and going back and forth- the it felt like a go cart w/o suspension and the mb felt plush.

with the cupkit- the front gap only drops to about what the stock rear gap is. when i show it to friends that don't know the c-class too well, they don't even notice that it is lowered.

it is a nice improvement over the stock for the price but i wish i would have saved a bit more and went the coil over route.

Go for the coilovers... I have them on my car and I love the ride... It's not harsh at all plus you have the flexibility of getting that perfect drop... the height is adjustable both front and rear...

So if you want as close to stock w/out it being bumpy, you guys recommend the H&R cupkit? I don't care much for "handling" I just want a smoooooth ride.

I know everything is a tradeoff. I would give up the plush ride in trade for some handling/confidence.

So what about the wheel spacers? Will I need them for the C7 setup?

Is clearance between the inside of the wheel and the coilover an issue at any height or only at one point in adjustment like all the way down.

Alignment issues?

How about those semi-mysterious camber adjustment bolts?

Still with me?

With the coilovers, the ride IS smooth... if your looking for lowering the ride and still keeping a smooth ride go with the coilovers... you won't regret it...

you're going to need to run spacers with the C7 setup. And from my experience, clearance between the wheel and coilover is an issue no matter what adjustment you have it set at whether its at the highest or lowest point...

Coilovers, it's more flexible, you can fine tune the look you want & change it back anytime (and not to have to worry about speedbumps). To me, that's priceless.

You're going to need at least 5mm spacers for the fronts. The rears should be no problem but you probably want to put spacers in the back also just to make it look even with the front...

Thanks,

Ok so if I go with the coilovers and spacers will RennTech Monolites with the staggered setup fit?

Front: 18x8.5, 32 offset
Rear: 18x9.5, 36 offset

That should be ok... since there is no standard in the construction of wheels, you may or may not need spacers for the Monolites. But you definitely will need spacers for the C7's.

Also, you should get H&R spacers because they are hubcentric.
