2006 C230 transmission problem
My first time posting.
just purchase a 2006 c230 sport:
It has 65k miles on it and it ran great for the past weeks days. . This morning I started it, put it R and then when I put the shifter in DRIVE, I heard couple grinds like (grrrr....grrrr). It's been cold here very cold since it started making that noise, I tried again and same thing happended. Then I put it in drive and started driving and was driving normal, shifting normal.
Has anyone had a similar issue like this? I'm worried with the weather getting colder now it might afftect the transmission and something might be wrong with it. The warranty is expired.
Any input is appreciated.
Thank you

also these cars are super finiky with fluid levels in the auto, I would check your fluid level and if you have a warrantee aftermarket bring it in to a good shop and have them check it out! Good luck, keep us posted

Thank you so much for these quick responses, tomorrow I am taking my c230 to the dealer for a transmission check, I hoping its most likely just needs service, like a flush.
I will keep you updated.
Thanks again

Transmission Problem Fixed
Ok, sorry took a couple of days. My original post on "transmission problem" heres the update.
I took the my 2006 c230 sport to the dealer, they repaired the problem(sensor adjustment) and had a transmission service flush done, plus they gave me a rental car for 2 days(FREE) accept the rental car insurance(thats ok).
Total cost was $554.80 (trans service) + $31.96 (rental car Ins) = $ 586.76.
Not bad I think, I dealership treated me great in CA. I didn't have to add rental Ins. since my insurance would have covered it, but to save paperwork nightmare incase of an accident, I payed the $16 per day.
My car runs great again, yea for me

glad to hear the trans is working properly.
Which sensor needed to be adjusted? If you don't mind, would you please post the copy of the service invoice or type the text from the invoice?

07 c230 , i am the 2nd owner, but the previous owner before me it stated on the car fax the transmission was replaced at 49k by the dealer.. not sure why i dont have any service records.. I bought the car with 50k something on it .... i have put about 10k without any problems yet, but i still wonder why the transmission blew, if anyone can pull up service records i'll give them my vin to find out what and why they did it.

What sensor did they change/fix?

Benz have had trouble with speed sensors on early 722.9 transmissions & I am guessing thats what they mean. This usually leads to valve body replacement.

Sorry I have'nt a chance to get back to you, I paid the $554, but the sensor adjustment, I was not charge for,I was just charge for thr tans flush and the removel of the back bottom plate, which only included a new seal gasket and screws. That all I was charge. The transmission is still running great, let it keep purring. Yes the dealer was expensive but they could have charge me for more.

my car is 06 C230SS at 47k miles, still running good, do I have to do that transmission service, I got a quote at the dealer around $360. I look in the the manual book, it did not say anything about having tranny fluid flush and drain every 39k. should I do that to prevent any major problems later, it's 7G. Thanks all

We just bought this car in Sept with 59k miles. Today makes it's fourth trip to the shop. The first two times because the check engine light would not stop coming on, the third time was an oil leak, had to get the gaskets replaced and last night the transmission went out (we think). I was driving and it just shut down. Would not drive anymore. I hope it is just the sensor and not a whole new transmission.
Seems like there are a lot of problems with the transmission and check engine lights, oil leaks, etc from what I am finding in my google searches. Seems like MB would do a recall. Not what you would expect from a MB. Not too happy right now.
