DESPERATE HELP!!!HELP!!!
I took out the MAF sensor to clean it. I don't know that I did wrong but it idles very roughly to the point of shutting down and I hear a thumping/clunking sound in the engine. I even took it out & put it back 3 times to make sure it is set right.
I was going to clean the throttle body but I could not find my T40.
Do you think something got into the TB?..or do I need to replace the rubber seal/gasket?...maybe I broke the MAF.
I was fine before I messed around with it..bummer!
Help please!!!!!!!!

Can you take a photo showing the MAF/TB area? If your car has M112 engine, couple of hoses that connect to the TB area may have been disconnected - causing the rough idle.

In the picture below, look at the part labeled #158 and the associated hoses. That 158 may have come out of top of TB. Re-check those hoses.
Upon first glance, by looking at the intake tubing, you may think I posted the picture for wrong engine. Trust me, if you have M112 engine, the ventilation hoses and part #158 are on M112 engine. This picture is acutually for M112 on a W163 (ML). Just ignore the intake tubing in the picture. Just concentrate on part #158 and associated hoses.

C240 diagrams.
Do as pcy says.
MAKE SURE YOU DID NOT DROP SOMETHING DOWN THE INLET MANIFOLD - YOU COULD BEND A VALVE.

that metal pipe is a vaccum hose, it fits on top of #158. Several hoses connect to that single plastic connector. That connector just attaches to the TB, no screws, just push it down.

Thanks Glyn & Pcy.
Do you guys know the name & part no. for #113 & #116? It's the rubber seal.
I think I will replace mine...Hope you can buy them separately.
Thanks again.

112-159-00-80 GASKET
112-159-01-80 GASKET
Although both of those seals look the same, they both have slightly different diameters.
I bought these about a month ago. MB dealer charged me $7 each.
These seals are $4 each from RMeuropean dot com.

yes, the part numbers I posted are the updated part numbers. The part numbers you posted were older part numbers. Please see the attachment (copy/paste from EPC)

I have replaced those gaskets on my C320 (M112). Line-up the notches in the gaskets with the the elongated holes in the plastic elbow housing and massage it in.

For a part like that gasket, it's best to look up in EPC or check with parts dept at your local MB dealer. There may be a revised version/part number.
