Factory Warranty About to be Up: Few Questions
Hey guys, so my factory warranty on my 07'' C230 is about to be up and I've opted not to go with the extended warranty(ELW). Car has been carefully and properly maintained and has not had any major problems up to this point so I should be fine well beyond 100K miles(knock on wood). The car is currently sitting on 30,3XX on the odometer.
I've searched around and haven't found anything specific to my make/year and am just wondering what I should have the dealer check before it's up and any issues/concerns I should keep an eye out for. Thanks in advance guys!

Same here except my car only has 10k on it haha. Will keep a look on this thread. I think I'll get an extended warranty for it because I had 2 belts and 2 pulleys replaced to get rid of a chirping noise.

07s are pretty solid esp the M272, nothing to check really. Just make sure your warrantee is the correct coverage that it cover super expensive stuff like front and rear sam, lighting system, a/c and braking systems, engine and trans are pretty standard, the rest isnt.

How'bout total cost?
I read all considerations and surely make sense, but... with the only warranties worth purchasing require that all service be done at authorized shops, using OEM parts and religiously following MB specs, let's look at the true costs of all this:
1) My first consideration is the need to find a dependable shop, well equipped, with well trained and up-to-date experienced technicians specialized each in a particular area of current automotive engineering (mechanical, electronic, electric...), a management friendly and handy to solve expediently any question, and well seen by and related to MB USA. Notice that I did not bring up their rates, which should be competitive for dealerships but a step up from independents.
2) I see the cost of warranty purchase (circa $4,000 or more for the 10 years/100,000 miles total), plus cost of Maintenance Schedule (at same dealer), plus materials and items not covered but part of expected repairs, adding to no less than $6,000 (probably more). With this fund in reserve, plus the option of doing things on your own -and with cash-, you end up with a well kept car, serviced they way and with the parts you want, at a lower cost.
3) I don't end up with the grief of having to take imposed time tables, availability of parts, discussed course of action (to avoid undesirable shortcuts)...
But this is just my view... Cheers, JV

So long story short:
Local dealer out in SouthBay quoted me at around 3800+(it's cheaper than that but they include a surcharge; still pretty ridiculous nevertheless) for 3years/75kmi. Made a call today last minute to a General Manager at a dealership out of state and he quoted me close to $900 less for a genuine Mercedes-Benz ELW.
My advice: if you can find it for much cheaper, I'd say take it for peace of mind even though it's still a little pricey.

I was quoted $2995 for 3years/75000 miles over the phone. The guy was the General Manager at Fort Worth Mercedes Benz in Texas. Lot of people don't try calling out of state but the ELW are all the same and can be used at any dealer throughout the country. He sells some of the most competitive and low priced ones out there.

You should be fine, 07s are generally very reliable. If you do get a warranty, 3yr/36kmi or 3yr/50kmi(if they have that) would be best since you have low mileage and if you dont put too many miles on per year.
