how to remove A PILLAR trim w/o breaking it?

how to remove A PILLAR trim w/o breaking it?
if searched and cant find a decent answer, for a '05+ w203, thanx, running my power for my V1 from upper windshield to obdII port for power, sick of the coiled cord in the way thanx, mike

There are a series of clips on the back of the trim that go in opposing directions. It can be quite hard to remove without breaking one of these clips. It helps to know which ones face which direction.

Use a pry wedge and a hook tool to push the clips in the approprate directions. In the image, the right hand side is the top of the pillar trim.

Start from the top of the pillar and work your way down. There are a few metal clips that lock into the plastic tabs on the back of the trim.
At the bottom, there are 3 or 4 slots that slide into the edge of the dash; pull straight up and out after the clips are undone.

Like most stuff with this car, it's easier than it looks. Brute force will get the job done; it's fairly hard to break the clips, so you just have to get over any parnoia and start at the top like infected said and rip them out. After the first time you do it, it'll be very easy to do.
Not really sure why you'd tap into the OBDII, though. Should tap into the ciggy lighter.

i would think tapping into obdii would be easier as you dont have to go under or thru the dash. or do i have this wrong?? to tap ciggy liter do u go down a pillar ,then kick panel then under carpet to the center console ane lighter??

Run the wire from the a pillar, through the kick panel, then under the center console and into the ashtray area. That part of the center console (the part that goes around the shift area) just pulls up, so you really are not disturbing any area that's very difficult to move.

Didn’t need to remove the cover (or any trim) in order to run my V1 wire.
I stole nlpamg’s idea of concealing the wire between the trim and windshield by gently pressing it into place with the edge of a credit card. Worked perfectly.
Tapped into the juice from the fuse compartment in the LH side of the dash, too.
