2007 c230 sport, 59k mi?

Is 59k mi high for a 2007? What type of maintenance work is coming up? Would this be a good buy if everything is in good working condition? I was looking at a 04-05 bmw 530i but i think im coming back to mercedes since i've been hearing so much that the 04+ 530i is nothing but headaches. My old car was a 05 c230 kompressor and while in my procession i've never really had anything go wrong with it so it was very reliable. Will the 07 c230 be any better?

Not at all. These cars are very reliable. The brakes could be up for service if the owner hasn't done them yet, other then that, proceed with regular scheduled maintenance.

I have yet to find one with any serious engine, transmission, electrical, etc. problems. Mines a little over 30K miles and the only things I've needed fixed were the sun roof shade and the trim on one of the inside fans. Well built car.

What's the listing price on it?

The car is listed for $18,997. Heres some pics of it. The only thing i dont really like is the tan interior. I would perfer one with a black interior.

I picked up my 07 the first week of December. 54k mi, black on black, and owned by a girl. I'm not an expert on packages, but it has almost everything but heated seats. Nav, memory seats, Starmark warranty, bi-x, etc etc. Got it for 17k.

I've had zero issues with it, but granted I haven't owned it THAT long quite yet, but it still, amazing car, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I think you'll feel the same if you pick this thing up.

Lusti Motors!

I usually get my car serviced at Rudi's Autohaus Stuttgart (part of Lusti Motors now).

can't comment on the car since I own a 03', (had some issues) but since it's being sold by Lustis and car would've been serviced by Rudi's, it's probably in good shape. (Rudi's rock you see... )

my only suggestions, get extended warranty if they have it, and take your own motor oil in(M1 ow-40). they like to use valvoline syn power, either 10w-40 or 10w-30 for what ever reason now...

anyway, good luck on your car purchase.

p.s. if black interior is what you are after, go for that(keep looking). nothing worst then buying a car you are not 100% set on.

I'd also hold out for one with a black interior. IMO, it looks soooo much better than that cheap looking grey/tan interior. BTW, for the price they are asking, I picked up my Black/Black '07 C350 Sport (46k miles) with all options except COMAND. Of course, that is in GA where cars are a bit cheaper than SoCal.

That's pretty low. I've seen up to 60k anywhere from 21-17k (distance = anywhere).

Running mileage on a car quickly is generally a good thing.

Ran my C230K from 25k to 101k since July 08.

Also wish I had gotten black interior.

Yea, i think im just gonna hold it out and get one with a black interior. Although, i dont mind the tan interior i just wouldnt feel 100% completely happy like you mention, so im just gonna be patient and hope i find a clean white with black interior. How do you guys feel about a 06 c230? I know that they come with less hp but is it a night and day different and feel all around compare to the 07? Theres a pretty low mileage 06 c230 with 30k mi but i hate the silver trim interior pieces. I wish the 06 would of came with the maple trim already. But is the power a big different compare to the 07? Im not much of a speed freak but i would like something with a lil kick to it so when im getting on the freeway trying to merge onto a lane i dont want to feel like my car is barely moving like in my 05 kompressor.

The 06 and 07 C230s have exactly the same powertrain. Same engine, same HP, same transmission.

I'd still go for the 07 because the 07 rims, exhaust, and spoiler look better.

If you felt like your 05 C230K was barely moving, well, you won't find it any better in the 07 C230. The cars are extremely close in performance. An automatic 05 C230 Kompressor is slightly quicker than an automatic 06/07 C230 V6 but it is close enough not to matter. That said, get the newer powertrain. Find an 07.

^^^ very true, i know if im looking for speed, the c230 will not be the right choice but i just want something that will not feel like its lagging like in the 05 kompressor. I also own a 04 c240 and this one feels way better than the 05 kompressor so im guessing the 07 c230 will be similar to the 04 c240 or might even be better as in power.

Something was wrong with your C230 Kompressor. The C230K is a lot quicker than a C240, the slowest of the W203 line for the USDM.

The 07 C230 and 05 C230K are very similar in acceleration, etc. Obviously you had some weird C230K anomaly.. my C230K feels night and day different to C240s I drove.

The c230 kompressor have a lag throttle response compare to the c240. I've driven other c230 kompressor and they all feel the same. Slow throttle response when you step on it at a stop light or like i mention when your getting on the freeway and is trying to merge in. The c240 on the other hand doesnt have that lag and im assuming its because of the bigger motor. The c240 and the 07 c230 both are v6 compare to the 1.8L kompressor. I dont know which model is quicker or faster but i know the 05 kompressor i have is slow in throttle response compre to the c240. The 05 kompressor have 189hp compare to the 07 c230 which have 201hp and also is a v6.

The 07 will feel better than the C240 but generally the C240 will feel better than an '05 230K in smoothness & on an open road run the performance differences are negligible in reality. There are good reasons for this that Matt always argues against. The C240 is smoother & more willing to rev & never feels stressed in the way the 1800ccK engine does. It has better gearing for it's engine power & torque curve if you are prepared to rev it than does a 230K. Matt I'm not going to go into a longwinded explanation of the torque multiplication effects of respective gearing. e1000 is a specialist on the subject & can write you a dissertation if he feels so inclined.

Another reason is that a C240 will generally maintain it's power output if kept tuned. The Kompressor engines tend to loose power over mileage due to Supercharger rotor lobe wear etc. At 100K miles they tend to have lost some of their new power. They always feel more stressed because they are!

The most powerful vehicle seldom wins the race unless the differences are huge. Anyone interested in F1 or MotoGP will know this. Valentino Rossi does not have 9 world titles because he had more horsepower than the competition. He is a huge talent but Burgess & the team know how to make the bike competitive for a specific circuit. Handling & how the bike develops it's power contributes to this as does the correct gearing. Valentino's bike has generally been about 8th fastest over the years through the speed traps.

1.8L Kompressor engine has that dang "turbo lag".

I keep telling the supercharger it's not a turbo but it won't listen to me...

I'm not arguing against anything. I've driven the C240, C230K, C230 V6.. The C240 is a lot more refined than the 230K, as is the C230 V6. It's also noticeably slower. The 2.5L M272 V6 in the 06-07 C230 feels better than either but isn't noticeably faster or slower than the C230K. That's the one to get.

I'm still not sure what all the talk of lag is with the C230K, though. Perhaps you needed a throttle reset. When Drew visited with his 2007 C230 V6, we drove each other's cars and compared. He liked and acknowledged a low-end power advantage in my car. I liked the overall refinement of his C230.

Definitely hold out for the black interior. No sense in getting a car you're not fully sold on.

Good - as long as you understand - that is all that matters. There are others that never will. A good friend, who has a C230 Coupe, low mileage & immaculate, & I had a two way thrash up & down the coastal road where I live. Driving our own cars & swapping out. The one could not get away from the other. All we achieved to do was burn up some rubber. The C240 has slightly longer legs on the wide open road.

Then you must understand, after all! Even if you believe the two to be even, you have to admit there must have been a problem if his C230K was feeling much worse.

+22 Yes, find one with black interior. The ash interior does look nice but it is a biatch to keep clean.
