changes stated in the notice I got in the mail seem to only affect the owners that purchased their cars from non MB dealership...
even then, only if they have not have had work done at the dealership within 18 months.
are they charging labor now for the RA replacement battery?

normally just the cost of the battery if done through RA, saving you the labor charge.
one great benefit of MB RA.
it depends on your location and the nearest dealership the tech is dispatched from I guess though as I just read sometimes they try to charge you the labor too(greedy dealer).
worst case scenario, you get charged the full price(parts and labor), but they come to you and you won't have to worry about code reset.
original MB battery is around $130-150 range.
just call RA, tell them you need a jump, when the tech comes out tell em you'd rather have the battery replaced instead of a jump.
he/she should set you up and you'd be good to go.
good luck.

Hi X,
Was that $150 from start to finish (labor, battery, etc)? That's not bad considering the battery is over $100 and you said you don't qualify for RA any more!! That sounds like an uncharacteristically good deal from MB!

As of 1/1/2011, all Mercedes having lifetime roadside assistance have been discontinued. Cars that qualify are ones that:
- Are under current MBUSA warranty
- You, yourself purchased the car from an authorized MB dealer prior to 1/4/2011
- Have had your car maintained at an authorized dealer
- Or SOL

I'v heard not so good stories regarding NY dealerships and RA over there...
RA out here is great. would have been charged just for the part.
anyway, hope you get everything resolved.

Does anyone know how the battery is held down in a C320? The long edge has no clamping so I'm assuming it's clamped on either end? I plan to replace with a new MB battery I bought for $280...and power-up the booster contacts with a battery charger so as no to lose any of the car settings while the post wires are swapped in/out.

Nevermind - Battery Replacement Job Finished.
It's a 14 mm nut (above was asking) ... one of which I dropped after thinking "don't drop that" - but I'll fish it out later on in the year with a magnet tool when I have time. For now the rear hold down bolt/nut is just fine - and the bracket holding the battery is a narrow one along only the inside edge (nearest the engine). God what a chore of a battery to replace - it barely fits in the hole left for it. (Maybe since it was -26 C here tonight had something to do with it). My toes are freezing. Car started up fine - clock needs a reset - that's all. I've read all about cycling the sunroof and the steering wheel lock to lock bits. Will do that later / when necessary. And here's the best part - the C320 wasn't even mine but a recommended purchase to an acquaintance. I told him I'd buy it if he ever decided to sell it - it's got all the options and 4matic to boot. Just missing xenons and the fancy seats.

Me me me too I was changing my battery last night, freezing my old bones, in that tight squeeze, (even with my magnetic and long gripper tool for the same dropped nuts & tools) but at least Syracuse was right around a 0c heat wave.
Oh OK I have to tell someone : ) and thank you all...as no one at work cares.......I'm so happy NOT that my <1 year old new battery which crapped out 3 times with 3 charges (even battery disconnected) and a needed jump in the past week ...
Happy it didn't totally frig up things like the EIS, rear SAM or other sensitive electronics...I saw many DIC LED flashes, SAR, brake system and headlight malfunctions as I watched low interior light dims with no starter engagement. Witnessed a weird RH only F&R parking light(s) stuck on?? WTF??
So fair to say I hate that battery brand now.....I mean how many tries with key in and try to crank to find a flat kill the dash and all lights & throw multiple malfunctions does one want to see?
So went out and got another brand!!! After battery exchange ...no malfunctions, ESP steering wheel side to side (thanks to my reading here).. It's all normal, no issues and it is all OK... phew
