fuel door won't lock...
hope someone can help me out here.
my fuel door won't lock.
it looks like the metal bar that sticks out to hook in and lock looks like it's bent or just stuck somehow.

the pic shows the metal bar on lock position.
it's sticking out just barely out of it's hole. seems to curve inward(away from me standing in front of it).
anyone know how to fix?
if it's just a matter of bending it back outward so it comes out fully through it's hole, how do I get the rubber piece the bar sits in out to work the metal bar?
thanks in advance for any help you guys can give.

If it does make some type of noise get something to poke at it to move it to the middle while hitting the lock button
the metal rod moves. when I unlock, it disappears inside the hole.
it just won't come all the way out to lock the door.
I also thought maybe the rod snapped off at it's tip, becoming too short but looking close at it's tip, it looks to be rounded at the tip so I'm doubting this.
just looks stuck. it's pushing a little bit on the rubber piece when I lock. I can see the whole rubber/plastic piece move a little, not a whole lot but the rod does push on the rubber on the inside part, which leads me to believe it's bent in somehow...
not sure what I can use to pry it out... area is kinda small.
even if I do manage to get it out, no space to work the rod afterwards to bend it back straight if it is bent in the first place.
was wondering if there is a way to take the rubber/plastic piece out to work the metal rod...

Honey,... where's our can of silicone lubricant?
Oooops, didn't see your reply
, anyway silicone l. will not clean dirt inside. I always use WD40 to clean and lubricate for awhile then you can spray silicon lub. later for longer lasting protection.

Have you pulled the lining and inspected the mechanism from the rear?
There will be several 2-piece plastic push-pins that must be removed at the
tail-lamp to begin pulling the carpet trim.
Good luck with your repair!
looking at it closer I think it might be bent from further in on the metal rod.
this might turn into a bigger project then I hoped...
Thanks for th diagram Glyn.
thanks everyone for your feedback.
mine was stuck unlocked and there was no typical solenoid/motor noise when central locking was operated.
When turning the manual release tab the locking pin would move to fully extend or fully retract, its takes about 3 full turns from end to end.
Check the fuse (#15) and was ok.
Then I noticed some relays are clicking as I operate the central lock.
It turned out that relay #H is faulty. #H is energized to lock and #G is energized to unlock. both need to be installed for the circuit to work.
Swapped the relays and the fault became able to lock but unable to unlock.
What I need now is a relay.
hope someone can help me out here.
