nooooo, i almost need new tires.

well, i'm at roughly 15000 miles and my C7 tires are on their last legs. the back ones are almost worn to the indicator bars, although the front ones have a little bit more to go. guess i'll have to start looking into ordering tires from tirerack. i think i'll probably go with the ever popular sumitomo HTR+ all seasons. just thought i'd share.

I just put new shoes on my car as well, I chose the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. I'm pretty happy with them so far, I've only put a couple hundred miles on them.

A lot of people said they loved the kumho ecsta's.... but honestly after buying them with the new rims... I wish I had paid the couple hunderd plus dollars and gotten pilot sports .

I had 17,000 on mine when I replaced them. I put on ContiExtreme's for the nice all season high performance feel. Excellant so far on dry and in the rain. Way better than stock. Also have more grip in the cold. Have not seen snow yet, I will let you know when that happens. But all around they are a great tire and hopefully will last longer. They were 100 bucks a pop from tirerack and another 80 to mount and balance. So I got all four shipped, paid for, mounted and balanced with free rotation for $540.

I just got the Pirelli P-Zero Nero M+S, horrible tire for grooved concrete freeways, the car tramlines on these and shakes side to side, really annoying. I'm going to take them back and Pirrelli agreed so I'm looking at either Toyo Proxes T1-S on the low end or Eagle F1 G3-DS on the high end. A lot of people that complained about tramlining on other forums (Audi, BMW and Mini) have switched to the Proxes and really like it. Anyone have experience with either of these tires?

C230 Sport Coup + 2006 W164 ML350 + 99 Ford Escort (What the heck, it gets 38 mpg!)
Read ALL the posts on the Sumi's.
The one I was looking at had a high incendence of
blow outs, sidewall failures on 'heavier' cars.
Heavier includes the 3500 lb. bloat we carry around for better or worse. (My baby's got back, oh yeah) But no problem on a 2K lb Honda Civic.

Yeh, lovin the ContiExteme's. They have a thing though where for the 1st couple of miles when it's cold they kinda bump around a little.
But very little tramlining..(spelling?)

I have 2 Nittos; 235, sitting in the garage. They have 7500 mi. on them.

btw, how are you using 19x10's with Eibachs? I had to pull mine off, because they were too soft and tire would rub on big dips. What offset are you using?

Tire ( Tyre ) problem - please help

Hi,

I have posted a thread on the Tires forum:

Posting on Tire Forum

Can anyone interested in tires and the W203 please take a look. I could really do with some advice on my new purchase of ContiPremiumContact tires (Europe only brand).

Cheers,

Paul

Question Choose which tires for my C230K w/C7

My stock ContiSports are running low after 34K km, therefore, it time for me to buy a new set of tires. Here are the list of tires I am looking for. Just want to see if any of you guys are using one of them.

1. Yokohama ES100
2. Continental ContiExtreme
3. Pirelli P-Zero Nero M+S
4. Toyo Proxe 4
5. Falken FK451
6. Dunlop FM901

Since I am a still a student, all of these tires are within the $160US range and I can't affort anything over this price range.
Thx

I have the contiextreme's on my sport sedan. They are really great for bad weather...I've driven them on 2-3 inches of snow, ice, slush, and also in heavy rain and they have been spectacular...Dry weather performance imho is average at best for an ultra high performance tire. They are louder, not as responsive as my pilot sports (that I miss greatly), and have flat spots (which is another issue)....I inflate these tires more than the recommended tire pressure to achieve the best results...Normally my C-Class advises 28psi front, and 32psi rear, I have set it to 30psi front, and 34psi rear, and they seem to ride much better that way.........All in all, if you live in the mid atlantic and dont want to buy snow tires, and have all season performance these are your tires...other wise get the Pilot Sport A/S

I have used Falken FK451 on another car.. it was quite noisy.. but traction is not bad at all. ContiExtreme is also on the top of my list, since it have a treadwear rating of 400 and good traction in all weathers. I guess any tires I get will be at least better than the ContiSport I have now.

Avoid the P-Zero Nero M+S at all costs. It's a reasonably comfortable tire and good handling but tramlines really bad. I was getting motion sickness just driving straight on the freeway, the car would shake from side to side. Pirelli took them back under warranty and at the tire shop a person with a WRX also was returning their P-Zero's for the same reason. I took the tire shop's recommendation and put on the Bridgestone Potenza RE750 (summer tire but they also have a M+S version). It's quieter than the P-Zero Nero but rides a little harsher and handles well but not quite as sticky as the P-Zeros but does not tramline at all. It was $10/tire more than the P-Zeros but had a larger wear rating number of 340 I believe.

The Toyo Proxes was what I would have gotten had they not been so strongly biased towards those Bridgestones. Mainly because people on other car forums put these on to solve tramlining problems on smaller stiff riding cars like the Mini.

I have the Yokohama ES100's and wish I would have purchased something else. Lots of road noise. They also seem to be wearing fast as compared to the stock Pilot Sports. I will probably purchase the Kumhos or Continentals next time. Loved the Michelins, but too costly for my commuter car.

I paid $122 each installed.

Stay away from the Conti Extremes

If you want to drive over 65Mph. They vibrate like crazy even after 2 balancings. One was bad and was returned but even the ones that are "good" still produce some shaking when cold. They grip very well in bad weather but they are not worth it.

CZ

p.s. I've had great experiences with Michelins, Yokohamas, Falken, Bridgestone tires.

My ContiExtremes are fine. They have been since i had them put on. Got the tires at Tirerack and it was about $480 with shipping for all four. Had them mounted and balanced at PepBoys for $80 and they have been great. I had P-Zero Nero's beforehand from the factory. The Conti's do get flat spotted in cold as temps but that goes away after about a mile or 2. They tramline a little less than the Nero's did, and that does not bother me as I expect a wider low profile performance tire to do that on the crappy PA roads. On perfect roads they are smooth as silk.
