W203/CL203/S203 TIRE Discussion Thread - Every question on TIRES

What size rear tires are you people using with your rear 19 x 9.5 wheels?
255/35/19 or 265/30/19? Also, what is your offset?
I STFF but only obtained partial answers to my question. The key is also the offset. I have narrowed my tire choices to either the Toyo T1-S or Dunlop SP9000.

Thanks everyone.
Jo17jC230: I recall that yours rubbed due to the agressive offset and you had to roll/trim something. Right?
WOn6_3d4n: 24 offset????
Ok...since my offset is 36 and I am keeping my 04.5 stock height, I should not have any problems with rubbing. Thanks again!

My tires are at the thread indicator level (thread indicator is actually touching the pavement). I just went in for service B (24,000 Miles) and my SA told me that I need to change my tires? What do you think? Do I have some more mileage left on my tires or I need to change them right now? Also anyone heard Winstar Tire? What do you recommend for replacement tire? I have Micheline pilot Sport (stock tire). How about Kumho, Winstar or Continental?

24.000 Miles is the standard milage for Michelins. I had my factory fited Contis for more than 25.000 Miles on my 220CDI, which has more torque than the 230, 240 and 320. Good tires are important for your safety, so replace them!
I recomend Continental, because from my point of view, they are the best I ever had. Never use Pirellis, they wear out very fast and from my point of view they are loud and feel like swiming at high speed. Newer Dunlop SP tyers models are good to.

I guess that depend on which Pirelli you use. My C270 CDI, which has more torque than any of the other C-Class (400Nm) is fitted with Pirelli P6000 and they lasted just over 60 000km (37 500mi). They are a softish compound and as such are very quiet and great in wet weather conditions. Incedently, the C320 is factory fitted with P6000 in South Africa.
My previous experiences with Continetal (SportContact made locally in SA) were not good. These were factory fitted on two of my previous cars. Wear rate was very high and poor performance under braking (wet & dry). I replaced both car's tyres with Pirelli P6000s once the Conty's were worn and noticed improved performance and noise levels.

Only 24,000 miles, seems too soon.
I have 35,000 on my stock Goodyear's and even though the SA said that they should be changed, the wear indicators aren't exposed yet, and my mechanic thinks we can get another 10,000 miles out of them.
By the way, they have been really good in the snow. Ice is a little problem, but using the W mode on the Auto Trans. and taking it a little easier help a lot.

24000 miles for your michellins, what are they rated??? Z, V, S, T???
I usually get 14,000 - 17,000 on my tires, Michellins or Kumhos, so if you ask me 24k miles is darn good !
. Then again my wife has 49k miles on her goodyear tires (MonteCarlo) and can probably get 5000 more easy, her tires are U rated, which will last a lot more than Z rated tires.

Tread life?
56K miles on original Contis and more to go (C320). Rotated every 5K miles and maintained at recommended pressure (inside filler cap door).

Tire rotation between scheduled maintenance?
I am about half way to my scheduled service A and was wondering what members recommend as far as tire rotation in between scheduled services. It seems like 10k+ miles without rotating is a bit extreme. Suggestions?
By the way, I'm using factory C7 wheels with the stock Continental tires.

Yeah it is- to the point where when I brought mine in for A @11.5, they wouldn't even do it because the rears were already too worn. I'd do them once @6, again at A, before 20 they'll likely go from bad to scary in wet conditions and then you'll want to get 4 new ones, just not Contisports.
If you go to a longer lasting tire every service could be OK, not optimal, but good enough.

Get new tires. No matter what, its not worth it to crash just because you held out on getting tires. As for brand... depends on your budget and what you prefer. I tried lots of tires and I like Kumhos for daily driving, BF Goodrich for more performance oriented stuff.
