2007 C230 Telephone Kit

I have had my C230 for 1yr 1/2 and have loved it from the time I got it. Have not had any serious issues with it, but one thing I can not seem to understand is why they rip you off by not placing the Telephone Kit in with it.

I mean the car cost and make has history and they cost a lot to by and repair. Why not have the kit in with it?

Looking back now, it's probably not even worth having the kit since we all have cell phones.

Does anyone have this kit on a 2007 C230?
If so, is it worth it?
and/or did you spend $3,000 to have it installed?

There are options available for a factory phone kit that cost less than $800. Just google for it, as we are not sponsors here.

Oh No I never spent $3,000 on that kit. When i realized that I could use a phone and asked about how the system worked, they asked me a couple questions and they told me I didnt have the kit in my car. Then they said for around the price of $3,000 the MB dealership can have it installed. I was like ARE YOU SERIOUS? YOU'RE PLAYING WITH ME ARE'NT YOU?

I said, I have a cell phone and I will be just fine with that.....uuuggggh

Just a phone is ok unless you have handsfree laws in your area. The entire country is expected to have them within the next 2 years. Even if I did not work for a bluetooth company, I get so much road rage when someone is driving slow, erratic, or otherwise strange and I pass them only to see a dang phone up to their head.

For the sake of other drivers AT LEAST wear a headset

Oh i'm like you, I cant stand when that happens in my face. If I do do it, I will be driving on cruise control so I can stay in with the traffic.

Then you also see them all over the road like they are drunk....only to find out that the phone is stuck to their head.

For starters does your car have HK?.. If you want the phone so badly change the H/U or get one of those parrot things that store your numbers.

You could find most of the parts on eBay, for considerably less than retail, if you had the patience to shop over a few months. Of course this installation is not, bad, but it is not exactly just plug and play. And assuming the car has the pre-wire option.

YEAH i DONT EVEN THINK ITS WIRE SET OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. I REMEMBER BEING EXCITED ABOUT THE TELEPHONE KITS AND THEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ASKED ME ALL THESE QUESTIONS AND.....NO KIT IN MY CAR.

I JUST DONT GET WHY THEY WOULD PLACE THE BUTTONS IN THERE AND NOT HAVE A KIT IN A NICE WORLD WELL KNOW"MAKE" OF A CAR.

I AM SURE EBAY HAS THE PARTS BUT I GUESS I WOULD HAVE TO DO THE RESEARCH ON ALL THE PARTS THAT I NEED.

I don't get it the point. The buttons are there to keep production cost low by allowing one steering wheel to be used across the line. The "kit" was an option that the original purchaser could have ordered and chose not to spend the money on.

Yeah, it kind of drives me nuts to have buttons on my dash that are blanked out or that don't work. I have a 6 speed so it is pretty much impossible to make a call on my cell phone unless I'm on the highway - and even then, I don't like to do it. I thought about it for those two reasons (the buttons and the 6 speed) but I really don't use my phone that much. I doubt I'd consider it worth $800 to hook it up. If it were substantially less, I might consider it.

Cell phone law is retarded. They pick and choose who they want. Ive even seen flippin *** cops drive while talking on the phone. Just remember become a cop and you can get special privileges 2. The reason why they are dicks most of the time is because they work 12 hour shifts and make hardly anything. Like the officer said to me im just a young punk kid with a nice mercedes. I laughed it off it seemed to **** her off I find it funny that ive ONLY been pulled over by chick cops

Yes / no Its just a loud speaker with a mic and bluetooth so you can connect it to your phone. In some cases they have a Digital FM Transmitter built in so you can play it through your speakers. But we all know how well those transmitters work. Cough Ipod Cough lol

The one phister posted isn't bad.

Im a computer tech But im not a nerd i refuse to wear those alien head sets lol

It seemed like they were in and now i see nobody using them

I dont have one but I've seen it in other cars and its pretty clear. It has really good ratings on amazon.

here's newegg.com prices. one of the best places to get electronics stuff. I LOVE NEWEGG!!! CS is the best and they always ship fast.

Yeah I actually have heard and been adviced to go on Newegg but never tried it out.

Is Newegg the cheapest price online?

Can the other person hear you CLEAR as you talk back?

except it does not automatically mute the car audio and the sound is pretty tinny. The integrated systems are MUCH better, but the old saying holds true.... you get what you pay for.

Anyone interested in purchasing the components needed to install the OEM bluetooth on a 203 pre-wired for bluetooth (going to be 2006 and I believe 2007 models), check out this thread: https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c...-complete.html

I did the installation myself recently and for all the parts needed I spent about $340. Prices on the parts have come down over time.
