It's illegal to put a for sale sign on your car here too. At least while it's parked.
F'ing ridiculous.
Saw some cars in Monterey and Pacific grove yesterday with signs...those basturds! Ha.
Dear MBWorld Fanatic! I love your car. Great picture and great mods. You say you have the C32 brakes and you deleted the supercharger muffler. I have considered both of these mods for my 2004 C230 Kompressor Sport Sedan. I am particularly interested in the intake silencer delete (SC muffler) you performed. Does it make a performance difference you can feel? How much louder is the intake noise? Lastly, did you use silicone hose and where did you source it? Thanks for your post. Great stuff. Jeff.
I just took care of it while I was replacing the mystical $12 Hose, found that the actual check valve had cracked. Anyways, I'd almost mess up, I had taken the supercharge off and on the ground with it facing up I refilled the reservoir, and then installed it. So thanks to the individual who mentioned to fill it while the car is level if not I would of been in a world of hurt.
The oil it did have which was maybe an once was pure black and stinky.
Hi, can you tell from wich car is this SC???
Thanks.

1. Snout/pulley ball bearing (mainly mileage dependent)
2. Clutch/damper (mainly driving style dependent)
3. Rotor needle bearings (rare, usually lac)
I did see a few oil leaking issues but that was because DIY owners put too much oil during oil change. There is no vent in the Eaton s/c and expanding oil volume when hot has no where to go but to leak between the casings.
I just did the PCV hose replacement both upper and lower and decided to swap out the oil while I had the SC off the car. Specs for the Eaton m45 for my 2004 C230K M271 is 4.6oz (138cc) and you can only get that much in the fill hole by tilting it back. The unit has to be off the car. Mine was completely dry, with only maybe 10 drops coming out. Many have complained about this SC going south at or before 100K, and MB does show this as a lifetime oil. Reality is that all things, SC included, consume or leak to some extent. My guess is that many of the failed SC that I have read about, were nothing more than dry. Anyway, without taking it off, you can only get about 110cc in before it starts to come out the fill hole, assuming you sucked it dry with a syringe and hose.
How does one know the supercharger has crapped out or needs an oil top up? Mine still seems to be working fine (234k) but might as well take a look as I'm about to remove it from the car. But I don't want to break the seal if I don't need to.
What colour is fresh supercharger oil supposed to be?

I think it is based on noise ... if you can hear gear grinding/whining and can pinpoint it to the supercharger housing, then it's either the gears in the nose, or the nose or rear bearings. This should be an Eaton m45 or m65 unit (I don't remember which), you should be able to find a decent amount of info about it online.

You will know if it is going bad.

They grind and scream. If you have 234k and still going you are blessed. You should change the oil. Get a syringe with a clear hose on Amazon. The inspection screw is on the front can be removed. Suck out what you can then fill till it starts to spill out. Put the screw back in and your done. That’s it. I do mine every 50k.
Picked up some supercharger oil. There is the overpriced MB PN A000-989-62-01, which as many others have mentioned, can be interchanged with ACDelco 10-4041 or ACDelco 12345982 (the label says both).
The guy at the local parts store said they had it in stock, but when I showed up he handed me a bottle of ACDelco 10953513. Thought I had the wrong stuff until I realized there are 2 labels, one stuck on top of the other.
From what it looks like, the difference is just that the 10953513 has a bilingual label as well as some specific warnings, probably to meet some Canadaland requirements.
Here's a photo of a bottle with a label partially peeled and cut off showing the 12345982 underneath. In other words, ACDelco 12345982 and ACDelco 10953513 are one and the same.
According to this link,
- the M111 uses an Eaton M45 with a 3.7oz (109mL) capacity. Needs just under 1 bottle of this stuff.
- the M271 uses an Eaton M45 with a 4.6oz (136mL) capacity. Needs 2 bottles, unless one wants a 87% fill. As somebody above mentioned, if filling with the car on a level surface only about 75mL can be poured inside without spilling. Might have to park on a hill or jack the car up to get a bit more, or remove supercharger from the car to get it all in.
The MB OEM unicorn juice is sold in 125mL containers.

As wlsorensen mentions, filling up as much as you can is better than none. When I changed my oil at ~110k there was NO oil in the supercharger ... over the past 10+ years it had all worked its way out of the gearbox. I figure if running with an empty gearbox for years did not cause my supercharge to fail, then 2/3 fill was far better than no oil.
Supercharger rotors looked in good condition Nearly 70ml of old oil extracted..
Replaced the oil in my supercharger today. Initially thought it was dry, as nothing came out of the fill hole!
So i took the gear cover off, and found a bit of thick gooey brown oil, about 70ml worth once emptied out..
The new oil was clear like water, i filled it with around 110ml of fresh stuff.. hopefully will be good for another 100,000km!
I am from Pakistan where mechanics don't have much information on super charger oil change I got w203 c180 sport edition and want to change supercharger. I have seen many video on YouTube how to change it but no one has mentioned how much oil should be refilled in supercharger and which oil is the best. My car has recently done 200000km mileage should I go for this oil change or not as currently supercharger is working fine.

Hi Musa, if you can get the AC Delco oil there I think it is worth picking up a bottle and then checking to see if any oil can be added.
I just changed my super charger oil I got AC Delco and after change I was like wowwwwww. SC got smooth and pick up has also improved. AC Delco worth every penny. Thanks everyone.
