Headlamp Adjustment Screw

This is going to sound like a sily question but the headlamp adjustment screw.... if you want to raise the headlamps do you turn clockwise or counter?

Um, why don't you just aim that at a wall and just turn the screw? You'll figure out which way in a matter of seconds. You shouldn't adjust them without actually seeing the results anyway.

I believe clockwise rises and counter lowers.

I'm with Phil. But if we're wrong, I bet we could tell you what the correct answer is.

are you turning the correct ones? its the one further down on the headlight. The screws might not be stripped but just off the nut, sometimes if you adjust it too much it'll fall off the adjustment bracket. you'll have to take apart your headlight and put it back on.

Yes...the UPPER screw (should be under a black tabbed cover) IS NOT FOR USA...it is ROW, and does nothing on a USA spec light...the adjustments, for up and down, should be molded into the headlight - and are on a lower level...I use a 1/4" (if I recall) nut driver to ensure a positive engagement...

Your w203 should also be level and back 20' or so from a wall to adjust...the height and break point is extremely important if you have xenon!

thanks for the heads up. on my previous car I had to take apart the headlight to get the leveler to connect because the screw on the leveler cracked and wouldnt screw on.

HEADLAMP ADJUSTMENT

Use extreme caution here, the adjusters are very fragile on these cars you need to look and see the condition of the screws from the inside of the wing on the reverse of the headlamp. If they break you will have an awful time finding replacement screws and brackets, they raise when you turn clockwise but the most prudent action is to spray WD40 on the adjusters and put it in for an MOT, they should be already set. I have just renovated mine, these headlamps are rare and expensive. I have a 1976 350SL R107
