fiberglass sub box
just bought a c230 and couldnt wait to put a sub in it. however i couldnt decide where to put it so i can still have trunk space. this is the idea i have and i think its pretty sharp.

if you like this i can make one for you also. just pm me for pricing. i do this for a living so i can assure you that you will not receive a garbage box.

i wanted something like this when i was in the market for my system, but nobody made the stealth box and couldn't find someone to custom make it for me. I decided to just do a small box up against the rear seats.
Is this size made specifically for the 10w3?

I have a 12 in my trunk in a box up against the seat back, but I would love to free up more space. I'm considering making a glass box that goes against the back wall, but I'm not sure the best way to do that. This looks like a cool idea, but my OCD says that you'd need to balance it out with another sub on the other side.

youre about 2 years late since this thread was made in 2011. most audio shops can build that and it'll probably be cheaper than having it made then shipped to you since it'll weigh a bit.

Spare tire well - where they belong! Actually, most of my tools are in a field bag that I just shove in to a corner. I currently have a wooden box so big that I can't get the spare out. I'm lucky to get 5 bags of groceries in there. This is me, downsizing.

I've lost touch with jbusjahn ... does anyone out there know of a good sub box solution for the trunk?
I'm getting tired of the weak and sloppy stock sub that I put in the deck lid. It was nice for a while but as my ears are adjusting to the acoustics of that car I find that I have it turned the sub volumne down so much to reduce the flabbiness and mid-bass boom that it's not really doing much anymore.
Time for a real sub (or pair of subs depending on how well the enclosure fits in the trunk) ...

After searching and searching, and checking a couple local shops, I made my own fiberglass enclosure. Don't believe the experts, though. They tell you "$100 in materials and 30 hours." That's if you know what you're doing, and buy everything online. I put $200 and over 60 hours into mine. Sounds great, looks, well, not as great. I'm very happy with the outcome, but can't see ever doing that again. Since you're in San Francisco, I recommend getting hold of Bing at simplictyinsound in Milpitas.
Here are a couple shots of my completed trunk/enclosure:
Yes I plan to wash/wax/vacuum this weekend.
