After driving the car today, when I pulled into the carport and turned the radio off, I can now hear a tocking sound from within the car.
I'm sure its coming from the engine and it is noticeable when idling. When I accelerate in neutral, it tocks faster and then goes away.
The tocking is as if thing is tapping in the car. When I open the engine bay to hear it, I can hear it slightly as the noise is muffles by the engine noise.
Also, this is when the climate control is off. When its on, I cant hear it as much, but once again, probably because its muffled by the fan noise.

Cheap - just get noisy over time. Will not lead to a failure.

Click below to listen. Turn your speakers right up and you'll hear the tock.
Purge Valve?

Granted I'm listening on MacBook speakers, but it sounded healthy to me! The purge valve is on the... well, I have no idea where it is in a left hand drive car! In a right hand drive car it's on the driver's side right next to the ABS system.

I'm not worried, its just a bit annoying thats all. I'll go the the specialist I'm getting the AUX cable installed from and ask their opinion. If they know what it is without needing to keep the car, I'll then goto the dealer I bought it from (not an MB dealer) and ask if it can be sorted under warranty. If not, I'll ask the specialist.

I got a screwdriver out yesterday and held it onto the Purge Valve and held my ear next to it. The purge valve didnt seam to make noise but when put the screwdriver onto the hose connecting to the purge valve, it was pulsating similar to the ticking.
I got my wife to accelerate and the hose pusating increased, similar to the ticking in the car.
I've got it booked in on Wednesday with the dealer I bought it from. I'm not too concerned but it sure is annoying. Its very noticeable when radio & climate control is off.

sorry was in a rush if you look down where the fan is there is a connector on the right side at the bottom of the fan casing it is a pretty big connector with good size wiring going to it. It has some connector that you have to wiggle out. just don't forget to plug it back in and make sure it works lol

Went to a specialist today about an AUX lead I odered and he took a quick look. He said if it's the Purge Valve, it's not an uncommon sound and suggests not to bother with it as even a replacement may start making the noise. He was a bit concerned that it could be something with the belt. It's going to be looked at by the dealer on Wednesday next week.
He said the engine looked good and there is no need for any immediate concern, but to get it diagnosed under warranty will be a good idea.
I will give the fan troubleshooting a try.
