Hey guys,

I'm really interested in getting one of these c class coupes and converting it into a clc as i can get them relatively cheap...

I've searched the forums but this doesn't seem to be a big subject?!? Baffles me. If you can make a 9 yr old car look like a new one i would have thought people will be all over it.

Is this more than just replacing bumpers, cross members, under panels, lights, hood and hatch? I remember seeing something about the clc nose being 7 inches longer or?

the rear looks pretty straight forward but the front seems like it maybe more complicated.

Any help is MUCH appreciated!!!

also im finding this whole model number thing confusing... is the old c coupe AND the clc both a w203?

Upper front support bar (above radiator) needs to be cut,... see blue colour parallelogram shaped cut parts attached to inside of side fender along the top-front of engine bay,... and new black colour upper front support bar (above radiator) attached to new front,... that give an idea of how much longer the new CLC nose is.

That black colour upper front support bar (above radiator) is supposed to be attached on top of that blue colour parallelogram shaped cut parts attached to inside of side fender along the top-front of engine bay.

There's also the interior dash,... paddle shifter, GO, etc,... need to have STAR if you mess with the program settings of the car.

I noticed those blue parallelograms from HKirovs pictures, the ones on the inside of the wing? Are they where the old support bar was mounted onto?

Im going to leave interior upgrade for now, seems unnecessary lol

Yes. Those blue parallelograms metal thingy used to be much longer but had to be cut. See photo to see how it looked previous to cut on a regular 2003 CL203,.... minus the wasp net, of course!

See that previous photo I posted,... see the side of the engine bay, see that big chunk of dirt right behind the pink coloured radiator reservoir,.. thats not dirt,... thats a wasp net!

Maybe these photos will show the CLC nose being longer,.... and the front of the hood-line on the CLC is higher,..... the CLC has a larger engine bay,... hint, hint,....

Do you know this guy? Is he available to give tips? have you done this before?

I've been offered full rear end for £500 ($787 cad) boot hatch, bumper lights and blanking parts for the lights.

Is that a good deal?

I have meet him at a couple of local Mercedes meets in Toronto. Prior to the CL203 to CLC conversion, he was into modding his CL203,... he had the AMG front bumper, Command, BiXenon, rims, etc,... When the CLC came out, he went to the local Mercedes dealership and inquired about it, only to find out it won't be coming to Canada (North America),.... so he decided to make his own CLC! As far as I know, he's the only one who have ever done the CL203 to CLC mod. I look forward to seeing his car at a summer meet,... last time he was talking about putting in a larger engine.

If you want a DIY report, you won't get it,... its tough enough to write up a DIY report changing one thing,... but to do it for all the changes involved,... not going to happen.

Most of the body changes are bolt off / bolt on. If you're comfortable auto body work it shouldn't be complex. The only tricky part is the front nose, since its a bit longer than original CL203 nose. Sure, start with the rear and see how you like it,...

Well i first found out it could be done after finding a C180 converted to CLC on Autotrader (british cars for sale site, the biggest)

I'm a mechanic by trade so most of it is going to be easy but i've not done alot of modding so anything tricky may stump me lol

I know its just gonna be the front thats poses a problem.

If you've got ANYTHING else u can tell me about it spilllll.

CLC Front end conversion parts? Did he ever reveal where the parts were purchased? I could replicate the hood / fenders / bumper if I can get my hands on the original parts but the lights I assume are just w204 early model lights.

ebay,... got everything from ebay! Actually ebay.de - Germany ebay! As I recall from our conversation some of the CLC front end part was from UK. If you want to replicate these parts,... start shopping on Germany ebay! CLC was never available in North America.

Headlights are not W204, they are CLC headlights,... ditto for taillights.

Good luck! You've obviously found the other threads on the subject.

In SA the cost of conversion is prohibitive. Easier to just buy a CLC but then we had the CLC here.

I'm new to the group and drive mercedes w203 coupe, 230 compressor, 2003. M271.
I bought everything I needed to do the conversion to CLC.
But I noticed several problema.One of them in the front part as mentioned but also divides the rear lights around the opening.
I have not yet begun to do, but I'm going these days to work and preparing the photo.
I'd like to, if any of you have already been working to help me.

Hi Guys

I'm super new to the forum just looking for some advice as I'm doing a CLC conversion to my CL203.

I currently have the rear section ready to be fitted will need advice on that later.

The problem I'm having is that I plugged in the CLC tail lights using my existing CL203 tail light harness/wiring and some really strange behaviour occurred such as the indicator lamp remaining lit up and lots of 'malfunctions' came up on the dash screen.

does anyone know if the Rear CLC will need an adapter to make them work properly?

I have collected almost all the parts of the conversation but I have not dared to start work.
Are you finished and do you have pictures?
