For those who have flushed their trans!
I'd like to flush my trans (722.6) this weekend and I have looked at all of the info found here but I do have a few questions!
After you change your filter, and put the trans pan back on do you fill the now missing 4 or so qts of fluid through the trans dip stick tube? Or is there a filler bolt on the side of the transmission? I read on 1 diy that stated that the filler is on the back of the engine.
And while you are draining the 2-3 qts of fluid at a time using the clear hose, are you re-filling those 2 quarts through the trans dipstick tube?
And last, when you bolt the pan back on, is there a sequence for which bolts get tightened down first and do the need to be tightend with a torqe wrench?

Drain, or pump, then fill, repeat repeat repeat.
Not at the same time.
Fill through the dipstick hole.
Put in exactly what you take out amount wise.

Funny thing, I just brought everything home from my shop to do the flush. The Trans fluid i bought is pink/red, but when I used the tool to check my fluid level, the fluid on the stick is a clear color. The great news is that it is super clean, but I wondering if it was filled wit the wrong fluid?

Does anyone know the total quantity of oil which is in the pan ? ie the amount drained + residue in pan.
I see total oil added during flush is 14 litres & total drained is 12 .Instructions state 2.5 litres in pan after draining !
What I am getting round too is that Glyns flush 1 instructions state :- If transmission oil is burnt or beading abrasion it will be necessary to flush the oil cooler lines and oil cooler to
ensure adequate cooling efficiency:
My question is if the oil is in good condition why flush ?
Just remove the pan, clean ,replace the filter & gasket & refill with the same amount of oil which was in the pan.
Doing this at regular intervals should maintain the quality of the oil ?
I have maintained ZF transmissions in the past & this was the process. ie regular draining which maintained the clean oil colour.

JC - no need to flush if fluid is good. It's just a pity that Benz removed the TC drain in 1999 from the 722.6. If you do a sump drop & filter change (no flush) your refill will be approx 4 litres. (Remember to clean the pan magnet)
Check your car for a TC drain plug. It was put back on the 722.9 in 2007. If you buy a new TC for a 722.6 now it has a drain. Your W204 diesel might??? have a drain.
