Annoying little things... Seatbelt stop buttons

Ok, its a small thing (literally). Since owning the car I have had to replace 2x Seatbelt stop buttons already.

Today I had passengers in the rear and another-one fell off.

MB charges $11 for these pieces of plastic. A specialist charges $9, no discount.

Does anyone know a good source I can buy a whole bunch cheap, but still look ok? Dont need to be authentic MB.

Let me guess and take a wack at that question.

Perhaps he had the seat beat stuck and the passenger pulled it in the path of the door and close behind it. As a result, the door smashed it and break the buttons, hence causing it to fall off. I hope that didn't cause any damage to the door or the door wells. That must sucks if that did occur.

No, it just... fell off. I never jammed my saftey belt in the door and it fell off. After my father got out of the rear yesterday, there it was lying on the seat.

They are pretty poor quality anyhow. Just two pieces of plastic held together. If they made them matalic or more durable...

my $0.02, in more ways than one: parts.com only charges about $6, but wants $2 handling and $11 shipping! I've been going nuts trying to figure out how to "install" them, and i found this on a Toyota forum:

"I asked the service writer how to install it and he said put it on the belt, place 2 pennies on either side of it and squeeze it with a pair of pliers. Worked like a charm."

There's even a Lexus bulletin on it HERE.

I do wonder if the 01 had better quality ones or something then the newer cars because my car has over 192,000 miles and I have never had this issue.

I think they usually break when a door is closed on the seat belt, which may not have retracted fully. I found generic ones on Amazon
HERE HERE
that say they click together, but I already have to MB ones.

Well it hasn't re-occured since I got them replaced. I did post this when I first got the car (or soon after) and it seems to have been bumped this month. Perhaps the previous owner or dealer jammed the belt in the door.
