C230K Gutless... any ideas why
Hey all, I've read through many a post here and haven't found what I think is happening with my steed. I have a 2002 C230K sportcoupe with 121k on the clock that has recently gone gutless on me and now is cutting out at idle, I can here the supercharger whining while high in the gear but I can tell its not working as the car is all torque and HP. I had this problem before and it threw a P0410 I replaced the hose from the diverter to the valve cover because it was badly cracked, and the car ran awesome for quite awhile, then last week it threw the code again, I cleared it but this time no power????? then yesterday I went to take off from a stop sign and the car just would not rev... like the ignition was shut off, it only lasted maybe 1.5 to 2 seconds then the car took off. Since then its happened 4 or 5 times and always at a stop trying to accelerate.
My first thought was its due for a SC rebuild, and I've been looking into that. But I'm worried because it was fine one day and the next nada... So now I'm thinking since its a clutched SC(pretty sure if not correct me here) maybe the clutch is not engaging. Is it controlled by a relay or fuse... And just now I realized that I no longer here a CLICK when the car starts followed by it bogging just a little which it has done since I bought it.
Please help if you can... I love this car..

There's a whole lot I don't know about modern engines in general, not to mention MB S/Ced engines, but assuming you don't have any codes registering, I would start with a compression test and a leak down test. I would also check my plugs. Neither of those areas would explain the intermittent nature of your problem, though, so I'm sure somebody else may have some better ideas.
Good luck!

I thought about the fuel pump, I know its old I was thinking about trying to hook up a temp fuel press. gauge to monitor. The only thing is it only happens when trying to accel from a dead stop...

Then the fuel pump sounds like a pretty decent candidate. It's a good place to start, anyway.

so I had the car out for over 100 miles and no stalling... this is driving me bonkers...
So onwards with the other problem which is no boost, I believe the supercharger output is controlled electronically. If so does anyone know if there is a fuse or relay or something I can check...
Thanks again for all the input guys

Ok well I kinda feel like an idiot, but incase anyone else runs into this I thought I would share. My scan tool does live data so the car needs to be running for that feature, well if the car is running the "DTR" light on the dash does not come on. This means that if you clear the codes the light goes off but the "Limp Mode" stays on....
As for the occasional stumble at idle I still have no idea but it hasn't happened in a few hundred miles so ill just hold my breath on that one.

Ok, so what you describe it may not be the fuel pump. When it failed on me, the car idled rough and stalled everytime I put it into drive gear. My mechanic states this is the first fuel pump he has had to replace in a Mercedes in 18 years of work. Costly repair, but definite improvement in accelleration now

Mine is doing the same, supercharger is working but the engine isnt recieving boost. The supercharger has a blowoff valve if you will, it bypass the boost in cases like sudden throttle closing under boost and other functions. I believe mine is stuck open and boost isnt reaching the engine. I cleared the codes yesterday and the engine light came back on and will recheck the codes to see what is there. My code was P0077
