wow, that's pretty pricy for a brake job.
I just picked up front pads from the dealer and they were just over $100 for the pair, plus $11 for a sensor. Total with tax was like $125.
I have not checked on getting this done at a dealer, I plan on doing the job myself when the time comes.

Sweet baby Jesus! 2 hours of labor? For real? Talk about taking your sweet time.
I paid $348 total (including parts, tax, labor) for 2 new front rotors, a set of OEM pads, a new sensor, and a brake fluid flush.
Order the parts from RMEuropean. The rotors are ~90each, OEM pads are $90+ but you can get OES pads without the MB tag for $70, a sensor is $5 and do it yourself or take it to an independent mechanic. My indy charged me less than 1 hour labor.
There is no excuse for these kind of prices and if you pay it, you had it coming. The brakes look intimidating on these cars but really are not. It's an easy job that should take an hour or less.

I know you guys are right but I don't trust these indy mechanics with my baby. I know I can get the parts from performance4benz. Since I am not a mechanic myself I am a slave to the dealers. Does anybody know an indy mechanic that will give my C350 tender loving care in the NE PA area? Allentown? Stroudsburg? Even North Jersey!!

I'm obviously not LILBENZ230, but I just recently bought front rotors and pads for my C230s. I got the BALO front vented and drilled rotors for $90.53 each from RMeuropean.com - I believe these are the ones LILBENZ230 suggested - and I got Akebono ceramic pads from Place for Brakes (www.placeforbrakes.com) for $69.31. RMeuropean also sells JURID for $78 which are the OEM pads. I believe, those are also what LILBENZ230 was referring to.

Have never sublet to a dealership for perfunctory upkeep.
Our Cs are decidedly straightforward with regards to brake maintenance. I source discounted OE rotors from independent vendors, and Keith Porterfield’s R4-S pads factory-direct in Costa Mesa. His pads have a higher friction coefficient and more fade resistance than the Akebono’s, yet are easier on our relatively soft rotors. Buy the best and cry once. Flush the circuit with an approved DOT 4+ fluid while you’re in there (at least biennially).
Paying myself ~$150/hr. to dick around in the garage for competent and conscientious DIY R&R labor, I still come out ahead in the final tally.

the brake job is pretty hard to botch the way they have it setup... the front pads are held in by a pin that holds down a a bracket on top of the pads. Just tap the pin out and remove the bracket (remember the way it sits), compress the pads back in using a pad compressor or like I do, use a flat vice grip. The pads will just pull out after that. Makes sure to remove the pad sensor or disconnect it. Install new pads and sensor, bleed brakes, and properly seat the pads in. Takes less than a hour to do the pads.

when I swapped to the 2005 c230 calipers I got all the parts from tire rack
akebono pads and brembo rotors for about 300 total.(coupon discount with google search) did the job myself and the only trouble i encounter was removing the rotors since they tend to rust in the middle where they sit on the hub but a few hits with the hammer and it was out. The calipers i got from ebay for less than $100 bucks. so about $400 total for the upgrade. takes about 45 minutes to complete the job.

I haven't had the Akebono pads on for long, but so far they don't feel much different. Of course I'm bedding them in so I haven't used them hard, so time will tell.

I had the same problem, but it took more than a few hits with a hammer for me. I must have hit it hard more than 30 times before it came off - and it's a good thing it came off because I couldn't have used it after that it was so beat up!

I suggest to find a mechanic in your area that you can trust and who know what there doing when it comes to german cars.
I do know that tom masano MB stealer and west chester MB stealer actually seem to be pretty helpful. But you could easily do the brake job yourself if you slightly mechanically inclined.

Scroll back VDUB. I answered you. On the fronts I paid $721 at Intercar in Newton, NJ. Only went there for convenience. I go to other dealers in NJ that I have a better relationship with. Globe Motor Car in Fairfield, Morristown MB or Benzel Busch in Englewood(where I bought the 06 C350).

Another dealer?
You know its funny you say that because i originally live in the Reading Pottstown area but as i am now in the army i dont get to do all the repair and service work for other people on the side.

Here's a write up with pictures. It's pretty easy. You almost cannot do it wrong!
