Got the new wheels on the Coupe...

Well, I got my new SSR Integrals on the Coupe yesterday (once again Luke@tirerack.com is the man). I went with 18 X 8 ET 35 front and 18 X 9 ET 38 rear. I running 225/40 and 255/35 S0-3 Pole Positions, which I have to say are absolutely incredible. Given the wheel weight is around 18 – 19 lbs, I should be around 40 - 45 lbs. or so total. Unfortunately I did not get a chance to weigh them before putting them on, but I promise I’ll weight the stock rims and tires since this has been such a hot topic.

Anyway, here's a quick picture I took on the way in from lunch. It’s not the greatest, but it gets the point across. If any of you are like me and struggled with how offset X would look, how close to the fender, clearance, etc., just let me know and I can take some more detailed pictures.

Thumbs up

Looks really nice. Like the "airy look". Will have those rims in mind when it's time to buy new summer shoes for my baby

Thanks for the compliments! I have to tell you, the car coners like it on rails. Can't wait for the suspension now to give it the drop and the spring resistance it needs.

I think I do recall that post, but thanks for the heads up. As they say... a rolling stone gathers no moss. So... I'm plannin' on doin' some serious rollin'!

On a more serious note, all the people I've talked to that run softer performance tires experience the "flat spot" issue. It's not permanent, just a matter of applying little "heat", so to speak, and all is well. It happens a lot to those lucky few that have nice cars running high-end tires that end up sitting the whole winter. Oh, to only have those minor problems in life.

Awesome! Kind of like AMG, but more elegant... Yet another proof that the Coupe asks for wide rears... Looks so much better with those 18x9s...

Looks good, and judging from front view #2, you have room for 265/35 in the rear.

I hear what your saying, but a 255/35 is pretty HUGE. Trust me, I've done my best to breakout the rear end on those 70 mph freeway ramps, and a 255 just holds on. Granted, Tirerack states that a 18X10 BBS will fit, and I have no reason to doubt it, but an 18X9 with S-03's does just fine for the Coupe.

That staggered look just gives the coupe the menacing pose it was meant to have. Just plain beautiful, brings a tear to my eyes. Almost makes me want to break out the checkbook and get some new wheels.

Bos are you really trying to smoke them? Do you drive a manny or an auto?

During take off if I deselect ESP and drop the clutch (at 4000) on my C7 17" 225/45 the rear end starts to travel out and the wheels are smoking.

Give me some details I'm really curious to know if 255/35 really have that much of an effect.

Thanks for the compliment and yes, I agree, the staggered setup absolutley makes the look of the car. I have a manny and I can still get them loose in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Albeit 3rd is more just an indication from the ESP and no real perceptible tire movement. No, it's not anywhere near like I could do with the stock (non C7) tires. As for really trying to "roast" 'em? I've practiced more trying to launch well, as opposed to just lighting them up.

In cornering they just grab and are very predictable. They don't just let go like the stock tires did. They do more of a walking type action at the point of loosing adhesion. It's kind of like you can just feel those large blocks taking tiny steps, but yet still holding on very well. I hope that helps.
