I have a 2003 C240, engine cranks but will not start.

DTR light is on in info center.

Have you looked to see if you have fuel pressure at the rail? That is where I would start. Do you have a code reader to read the code?

What is the DTR light?

Diagnostic Trouble Light. Just another name for Check Engine light.

Thanks for the tip, should have mentioned that I did have fuel pressure.

I went back to the car and tried to start it and it started, but I have the check engine light on.

I made it home and scanned it with my scanner and it is showing a crank position sensor malfunction. Car would not start again after I shut it off.

So I have a new sensor in hand and a crude drawing as where it should be so I will tackle it tomorrow as the engine is hot right now.

This will be the first work on a German auto, all my experieince is with domestic.

Installed the new crank position sensor, cleared the code and the engine is running like a charm.

What a little tricky sensor to remove and install. Not alot of room.

Good old CPS. I carry a spare. Of course mine has not failed - YET!

Engine won't start if it does not know where TDC is.
