Hi all, its been a while, just last week i was driving my Benz back to home from work and my car just shut off by itself when i was a block away from home. no warning light, no check engine light, it just shut off. i stood there for about 5mins and the car start up fine and i just drove it home right away. what could be wrong? car currently has 90k miles now and I replace a brand new remfg alternator and brand new battery a year ago because the 10 years old alternator went back and the battery won't charge, at least there were a warning light on my dash saying my car is running low on voltage. Please help because i am planning to sell this car soon.

possibly Crankshaft Position Sensor is the culprit (NOT the camshaft position sensor). Search this forum, there are several threads on this topic.

Doh! Sucks to hear Kira.

CPS is a good call, but w/o codes or any further info, its hard to tell. Hook it up to an obd2 reader and see if ya get anything.

ps - you've been saying you're selling the car for ever. I think you like it a lil too much to let it go :P

This happened to me once. I was getting onto the freeway gears shifted on the tranny and as soon as it changed I hit the breaks cus a car cut me off so the gearbox reset and the car turned off on me. It was the only time this has happened. Its been over a year.

CPS or fuel pump or pressure.

Check that you have pressure at the Schrader valve on the fuel rail. 3.8bar

Borrow a pressure tester from Autozone & read pressure while cranking on the fuel rail that joins all the injectors.

Based on a thread I just started for a friend in the R170 boards, it's the CPS. Car randomly dies w/o warning but will immediately start back up and drive normal for another several hours, then repeat.

Awesome wheels, btw! What brand?
