Replacing spark plugs. Do I also need to replace wires/boots?
Hey everyone, my 78k is coming up where I'm supposed to change my spark plugs. Do I also need to change out the wires or boots or anything? If so, anyone got a rec of what I should get?
Thanks.
Thanks.

On a previous thread (https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...lug-wires.html) Glyn recommended that a guy change his wires at around 100K. Your next plug change is at 91K so you might want to change them then or the time after.

I have the 271 engine so my next plug change is at 78k like I said, I figure if I need to eventually replace the wires, I might as well do the plugs and wires both at the same time, but I can't find anything concrete that talks about changing the wires.

Hmmm... You got me there. Mine only has 50k on it so I haven't had to worry about them yet. I usually get parts like that from here (http://www.rmeuropean.com/) but all I could find were coils. I found something on Amazon, but that is not my primary source since I worry that they list the right parts. In the thread I sent you, vhouc said he got some. He may be your best bet. Or you could call rmeuropean for the part.
Good luck! Let us know where you get them.

I don't know anything about these folks, but I found a set of wires for a 2005 C230K here: http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/200..._wire_set.html
The price seems reasonable, but there isn't much of a description for them.

There are no secondary coil wires. The car has four cylinders and four spark plugs. The coil pack that generates the spark voltage sits above the plug. Integrated into the coil pack is a sliding insulator that carries the current to the plug. You pull the insulator out to a specified length and install the coil pack. The insulator collapses as you push it into position to account for different height of the installed plugs. If you don't have any codes, and cannot see any defects in the case of the coil pack like cracks, discoloration, or carbon trails, you don't need new ones.
Some other cars have twin-spark and there are two plugs per cylinder. Those cars have short wires from the coil pack to the plug.
