C280 Door grab Handle Issue

Hi, Guys:
I need some help here about my 2006 C280 passenger inside Door Handle.
I have found that the upper end of the handle connected with door trim becomes loose, while the lower end connected with armrest is fine.
Does anyone have experience to fix this? such as
1): Can this be fixed, or need to replace whole grap handle?
2): How to open the grap handle trim?
3): Pictures of screw positions, if there use screws to fasten, etc.
Thanks.

Seems to be quite common issue with these things. Mine are also both broken. I'm actually thinking about trying to glue them before buying new ones. I don't think there is no other way of fixing it. Aside from buying new ones, of course

IIRC, there is a thread with pics about replacement somewhere on here, so you might want to do some searching.

Better to replace. Many threads with all the diagrams you need.

Hi, Alan:
The diagram given looks like a driver side door. Mirror to the passenger side door, it looks that the connection between parts 40 and 110 is broken. Am I right? In your msg, does part 40 or part 110 need to be replaced? or both? If both, it looks that I need to remove the door trim to replace part 40.
Also, do you have link about search result about the handle replacement? When I search it, it pops up so many threads. Thanks.

Replaced both on mine not too long ago...got part from the dealer w/c was not too bad $$. It should come with all the pieces needed to replace it. Mine did anyway. Easy fix once door panel is off..its all straight forward. Good luck.

Hi, Guys:
In another thread, ND2020 said "I actually was able to just replace mine by sticking a screwdriver in and prying the two tabs inwards and then pushing them out on the new one once installed. I really don't think you need to take the door panel off at all. Just remove the two screws and pop it out".
Any opinions about without removing the door panel to do the job?

I guess it depends on what your door handle looks like because mine didn't have a black cylinder to screw on and off. Either they vary by year/model or they updated the part.

Here's what I had:

Hi, ND2020:
Thanks very much for the picture of the part. Mine is 2006 C280, and I hope it can be the same as yours.
I need another info. How to figure out the color number? I have checked the driver side door label and can not find the color number. Thanks.

My friend broke the passenger door one, I broke my side as well

each time i just got some epoxy, coated the break nicely and stuck it back in, its not perfect and you can see a tiny bit of glue but it feels stronger than ever!

Dunno if this helps or not, but it's what I used ( Says for classic and Elegance, so yours may be different ):

Hi, Guys:
I just come back from the dealership, and give the VIN, the dealer gives me the trim color code is 118A (Ash Leather Inserts), style is Elegance. The part number is
203 810 16 51 73 76 with price $68.15 plus TAX. On another thread about online part web site FT. LauderDale at Florida, it does not have this part while has 203 810 16 51 72 13 (Orion Gray) with $30.81.

Hi, ND2020:
I just get the part from remote MB dearlership, and the part looks completely
same as yours. Could you explain more about the "two tabs" stuff? such
as where it is located and what it is used for? Thanks.

Hi, Guys:
I have replaced the door handle about 45 minutes.
After remove the cover of the grap handle, I try not to remove the door trim.
I uses small screw driver to push the click type lock at top end, and remove
the top end successfully. But since the bottom end has two screws connected
from inside, I failed to remove the bottom end. This takes about 10 minutes.
Then I remove the door trim and use about 25 minutes.
With a helper to hold the door trim, remove the old bottom end and install new
handle for 5 minutes, and put everything together for 5 minutes.
Thanks everyone here to provide very useful info for me.

Just happened to me, too. On the passenger side. I read through this thread. So do I have to take the door panel completely off or can it be done without this step?

no choice but have to remove the panel as there is a small phillips screw holding the handle from the back

Ahhh, I miss MB overengineering already!

At least the torx bolts are easier to get to in the sedan. As BV said, access to the handles is from behind. And yes, it is
