Instrument Cluster Programming
i have read through a few searches i have done, i have seen inklings, even one of my own.. but have not found a definitive answer..
my instrument cluster on my '02 c240 died from a bad mechanic, i installed one from ebay and everything was great for a long time until i gave the car to my nephew and now he can not register it in Illinois without an odometer reading.. i have the old cluster back in AZ, but the LCD is still not working..
can i have the instrument cluster changed to my current cars mileage or display any mileage?
do i have to get the old one and do an LCD replacement?
or does anyone know if i can have them apply for a title that does not read the odometer?
thanks for any help, nephew got his license today.

Your mileage is not being displayed because it differs from what is stored in the Ignition switch. (EIS)
Easiest way would be to read the mileage in the EIS and have someone adjust the mileage to the current value in the cluster.

tommy's suggestion ftw lol
i am leaning towards applying for a non-actual mileage title if they allow me, because it is not like we will be selling the car
