I am not by my computer now so I cannot check. But it could be checked in epc or call a dealer and ask if the one part number supersedes to the other.
The job itself is easy, but you'll need an SDS to initialize the new unit.

I'm following all this closely as I have had intermittent BAS & ESP malfunctions myself. I'll post relevant info if I have any. Thanks for all the comments so far. I'm just trying to be like a sponge at this point.

I verified the part number with the dealer and ordered the part. Once installed, I'll let you all know if it fixed the problem.
If it turns out the steering angle sensor needs replaced as well, how difficult as that? I have tried resetting it once already but with a bad ESP module the problems obviously didn't go away.

Good luck! Pleased you verified with the dealer. I note from the EPC that that module has been updated a number of times.
The SAS is easy to replace. Let's cross that bridge when we come to it.

I just picked up the car and got a little clarification. It's not the SAS, it's the Steering Column control Module and it's throwing a "soft fault". But again, let's wait and see what happens after the ESP module is installed and configured.
