Anybody want a '08-'09 Nav update DVD?
I just bought a 2011 DVD on e-bay to update my CLK 550 nav, and now have no use for my "Version 2008-2009" disc. It will also work on the C class from 2005-07. If you have a 2005-07 C class with your original disc, this would be a significant update for cheap. $25 shipped - basically to cover postage and the bother to pack it and drive to the post office.

I have the 2005 DVD in our car, and it is time to update as well...however, I thought I recalled reading that you need to update "thru the discs" meaning get the 2006 update, 2007 update, 2008 update, etc. I find that to be ludicrous...I hope I can just pick up a new DVD and then install / update...
Please confirm, or state how you updated please - did you "jump years" as I want to...I want to take out my 2005 Disc (PN BQ 646 0204) and upgrade to the 2012 disc...

I also saw some references to having to update with each disc. I am 99.9999% sure that is just urban legend. It would be kinda silly, and MB sells the updates online with no mention that you need every one. Also, I skipped one version just now. You simply remove your old DVD, pop in the new one, and wait about 30 seconds. Doesn't even give an update message or anything. Simple.
Frankly, I don't think it's really an update in the software sense. It's just a new DVD. Sort of like if you bought a CD with 10 songs on it - then later bought a newer version of the Cd with 11 songs. Your CD player does not care which you pop in. Same idea.

By the way, I don't want to talk you out of buying the 2012 disc, but all these discs are outdated before they are ever pressed, so if you are willing to live with just being a few more months behind you can get the 2011 version on an e-bay auction for waaay less than half the 2012 version price. That is assuming you were actually going to buy it from MB or Navteq and pay the full $229 price or whatever it is. 2012 is not on e-bay. I figure I can update every year that way and it will take 3+ years to equal the price of one "current" DVD.
