05 E55 140k MILES buy OR not?
O5 E55 for sale here in Chicago. http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/ctd/2793728483.html
The high mileage scares the $H** out of me. I know how expensive thing are for my C320 and could only imagine what it would be to fix something on this E55.
What are your opinions on this car? How big of a problem is the mileage? What would be the cost for an extended warranty?

I would say no personally that is too many miles for an amg that you have no idea how hard its life has been. That said it looks to be in good shape. They are very nice cars.

It is a truly gorgeous vehicle.. the AMG W211s were. It appears well cared for.
That said, I wouldn't buy it either but I do find it sad that at 140k miles a $90k car is considered not worth it anymore. Although there is nothing more expensive than a cheap AMG car, apparently.

It does appear reasonably looked after but I could not recommend with a clear concience. I want the Wheels!

Drew put those very wheels on his 07 C230 and then powder-coated them. It wasn't a bad looked but wheels/tired seemed oversized a bit for a 203.. probably would look great on your 209, though, Glyn.

ticking time bomb... even though the pictures do portray a clean e55. If you are serious about the car make sure to get all the info (carfax, prior owner's documents if any, etc.) then have a good mechanic look at it.
