I was driving today and about 60km/h heard a faint batting noise from my outside my car. I had a look for the noise but couldnt find it. I though maybe a branch or something stuck under my car.
Eventually I found what it was, a piece of rubber from under my car. When I was driving faster, it must have flutter around under there hitting against the bottom of the car. I pulled on it and a lot more came out, the first piece came out and then a second piece. Rather than keep on pulling, I just cut the second piece off.
See my photos, does anyone know where this came from or what it is? I didnt need to pull hard for it to come out.
The rubber is black, but the flash makes it look grey.

Your car is one of the few with factory option GBB. (Glass Bottom Boat) and the rubber is the seal for the bottom window against the chassis.
What ever you do, don't take the car out on the water until you have it looked at by a Mercedes Marine Dealer.

Best to crawl under the car with a good torch & look closely where the rubber is coming from. It will answer your question.
It is possibly some type of body seal.
Let us know how you go.
This does not happen to GMH vehicles !
Good luck.

GMH vehicles just rattle themselves apart around you. But to be fair they are a lot of car for the price. Cheap & nasty interior aside.

They have been propped up financially by the Aus Govt for decades.
The high little $ Aussie Battler is sounding their death knell.
Hopefully they will change their ways & we can continue to have a car industry.
Have you found that problem yet anonymousmoose ?

I dont think there is a problem but no, I havent found out what it is or where it came from yet.
I live in a high rise apartment so dont have a garage or tools to go under there to have a closer look. But my car is scheduled for some maintenance in 3 weeks and I'll get them to check. If I get the opportunity to do it sooner, I will.

Trouble is these American based firms (GM & Ford) are still making large 6 cyl vehicles the market cares little about.

The Holden/Ford passion runs high in Aus helped along by the V8 Supercars Racing Series.
At least your strong AUD keeps your fuel price down.

Yes - The local manufacturers are well protected. I quite enjoyed my Holden Berlina although I did not run much mileage onto it because I was always travelling. While I was not paying the bill the fuel consumption was horrendous. It averaged 19+l/100 Kms. I guess that's why I considered the little 2.6l V6 benz so economical.

I would not have believed that MB C Class came in third place in the Medium Car Segment with 6428 units ie 34%

Also see large car numbers Vs others mainly SUV's

Just a thought; the car did have a transmission service recently, could this have been from that? Do they access the car from underneath for a transmission service?

1) Mercedes Benz
2) Honda
3) Audi
It funny, VW & Toyota are the best sellers followed by Benz & they rated badly.
