2005-06 C230 6 Cyl. Or C320 sport
Hey everyone. For the most part I'm a BMW man. Iv had a 98 c280 and a 06 c230 6 cyl for. A brief time. I'm look for a commuter car since my 4.6is x5 is a guzzler and I like Benz for the longer drive. I really want a c32 or c55 but don't have the heart to put 150 miles a day on one especially a 55. And not sure how reliable a 32 with supercharger is bcus I would buy one with 90-100k miles.
So I think iv narrowed it down to a c230 6 cyl sports sedan or c320 sports sedan. I'm not looking to do engine mods just a set of s65 titanium amg wheels. So I want the car to just have decent performance. If had the c230 but no nothing about the 320 sport. Can someone please tell me if it is noticeably quicker and the pros n cons of both thanks!

i have the 2005 c230 (sport) which has 190 hp and i think 200 torque..now if u buy this euro tune for i think 400 ull get 30 more hp and torque....
like magic ur driving a v6 and ur getting 35mpg on the highway
btw the 6 cyl is slow anyways and the car sucks for repairs

None of the mentioned cars are fast. Not the C230K, C230 V6, or C320. But if you're going to have to pick between them, I'd say get the C230 V6 in manual.

so the C230 1.8 with the euro tune is faster than a stock C230 6cyl?
im not looking for fast, its a commuter I want it to be decent enough to have some fun too

The 2005 C320 Sport is a rare breed, have you found one? If not you may not be able to find one at all.
I'd get that one over an 06 C230 with the 7G transmission for sure. None of them are significantly faster than the others.

I'd personally go for the 320 sport, but I may be a bit biased. They're just as good as most of the others, only downside being finding one with a face-lift interior as Matt mentioned. They're quicker than a 230, but not by much. Higher hp and torque. Couple it with a basic tune and it gets great gas mileage as well and is a fun car to drive. The stock exhaust sounds better on the C320 IMO.

I agree if he can find a 2005 C320, he should do that. However, I wouldn't consider a pre-facelift car at all. When I bought my 2005 C320, right next to it was a dark red 2004 C320. Same price. I liked the Bose system a lot, and I liked the sound of the engine better but power wise it was not that different. I couldn't do it. The pre-facelift interior is a deal breaker.

i tihnk a c230 v6 would be more fuel efficient, the c320 is only 220 hp but it is a v6 with sohc which i see as pretty inefficient. if i were to get a c320(215hp) i think it would be better to just find a c350(268hp) or a c280(228hp). in a c320 u have a 3.2L and 2.5L in a c230 v6 thats like a .7L difference for 15hp. The c280 i think has the most efficient hp to engine size ratio but the dont came in sport.

One more downside is having 12 (2 per cylinder on the m112) spark plugs vs. 6. I would've preferred the face-lifted interior, but mine has grown on me. I don't regret getting my '04 though. Food for thought....

There was a 2005 C320 loaded with 37k miles on ebay for about 15k. That would be a steal. The C320 is a good car but isnt that much faster. They both get decent mpg but it always depends on the driver.. The 230k (M271) is actually rated faster 0-60 than than the 230 (M272). Barely but I remember seeing it on a site. If you are looking for a little performance with good mpg savings than I would go with a 230k. Find a nice 05.

For MPGs you can't beat the C230K. The C230 V6 is horrific if you drive in the city, and the C320 is no better.. though both are capable of good highway mileage. I'd stay away from the C230 V6 automatic, though. It's annoying with 7 gears and there's been a recent spate of conductor plate failures that range from $1200-1500 to repair at dealers only. It's not worth it.
For commuter purposes I'd say an 05 C230K if you have to get an automatic, 06 C230 6MT if you can get a manual. I wouldn't buy a W203 older than 2005.

The C230K is a bit faster than a C230 V6, tune or not, auto vs auto.
V6 Mercedes have more repairs? BS. A lot of people would argue that the I4 Benzes are more prone to repair. Personally, the 2005-2007s are a wash. They're as reliable as it gets for the W203.

Typical BS. Please ignore all posts by this one, he has no idea what he speaks of.
