Cool ROADTRIP PHOTOS - As promised. Some Pics from the Australian open road

Please enjoy the photos as much as I did taking them. - your comments/questions are welcome and appreciated.

So this week I took the w203 with my wife and another family member visiting for a trip down Australia's South West. This is the first big trip in the w203 and it handled quite well. But the non-city-smooth road surfaces did bring out all the rattles the w203 is sometimes reported to have.

The w203 for me is more of a city car. My last car, Holden Caprice, was more of a long distance cruzer. I think and E class would have been a bit better for long distance. But am I complaining? NO, just a comment. I would still rather drive my w203 than my previous Holden .

Anyways, here are some pics of the open road. No, I wasnt holding the camera when driving, it was a mounted iPhone.

Bunbury WA

Typical Australian car. Holden Commodore. I owned 2, but older models, in my time.

Can never escape the parking meter.

My w203 next to another famous Aussie car, in fact, there is a lot of competition to the Holden Commodore and this Ford Falcon.

Lunch time. An Aussie celebrity chef owns this take-away place.

Nice pictures ... I forgot how nice the star emblem is ... I've switched mine out to the flat emblem. Looks like it was a fun trip!

Great pics - thanks for posting them. Hoping to get to Australia myself in the next year or two; haven't been there since my family returned to the States when I was 6 mo old, 45 years ago.

I'm doing the San Diego to SF drive over the next week; hope to have weather like it looks like you did.

That spider pic gives me the *******.

Holy Frijoles.. Why did you have to post a picture of the spider?! I nearly passed out.

Interesting that you find the W203 to be more of a city car. I don't find it a pleasing city car. From Feb 1. to Feb 29. I drove my C230 2,725 miles. It loves the open road.

Our cars look a lot alike.. they're aging very well.

BEAUTIFUL PICTURES OF AUSTRALIA!!! The w203 is a great car for road trips. I plan on taking mine across the southwest part of the United States sometime in August. I took it across the southeast U.S. last year.

Thanks for sharing the photos!

Probably because my old car was one of these:
Very comfortable for long journeys. Our Prime Minister still has this model as the state-car.

But overall, I really prefer the Mercedes. Feels a lot more refined and precise.

Awesome pictures!!

I love your country btw. I spent 3 weeks there in Jan. Did a road trip from Melbourne to Bondi Beach in a buddy's Holden Ute. Had some crazy adventures along the way, in an equally crazy car.

Thanks for the 'wild west' photos .

Higher profile tyres would make the car feel better on the rougher country roads. Make the suspension last longer too.

Good old Aus! Beautiful country. Time for another visit!!! I'm suffering withdrawal syptoms.

Yes - the Holdens may be crude in implimentation but they are fine cruisers!

You are spot on JC. Our cars are set up for autobahns, autostrada etc.

16 inch wheels & 55 profile tyres are far better for bad roads.

Yep!. When next I come to Aus I will start in Perth to see a good friend David Kagi & his wife, then Sydney then Brisbane for most of the holiday with friends there.

Will look you up if you are in town.

Trey you must travel internationally whenever possible. It is a mind broadening experience. A staggering number of Americans never leave the State they were born in.

LOL! Check out this stand up routine by Scottish comedian Danny Bhoy about insects in Australia.
