Overall ride impressions: C230 vs. RSX Type-S

Hi Everyone,

I know a few of you did some major test drives of other cars before you decided on the C230. I'm just about to test drive both of them, but I was wondering what your overall impressions were of both of them as you did your test drives.

I know it's like comparing apples with oranges, but your feedback would really be appreciated. Thanks

RSX-S drove like a civic and constantly reminded me of my old civic so why would I spend another 25g+ for another rebadged civic? its more torquey than old Honda VTEC cars but its not fast until VTEC kicking in. the 6sp is top notch i must say. Interior is cheap and no comparison to my benz. The exterior styling not my taste and I just dont want to be labelled as another boy racer, so I went for something else that has more "class".

If I had 25K++ to spend for a japanese car I would rather get a WRX, or the upcoming RX-8, 350Z a serious RWD or AWD sports car

its no-contest... the C230 corners jsut as well with the C7 setup (almost) and the RSX hasa very unsophisticated ride... lots of impact transfer. they also don't seem to stand up well to hard use.

Actually I was asking for actual ride/test drive impressions. My older thread was more of an aesthetic opinion between the 2 cars. Boy everyone had something to say on that older thread.

Heat, I think of it's ride impressions, you should just test drive them both a few times.

I chose between these two cars, I sat in the MB and thought the ride was much better, since afterall, I want a car to get around in, not race with.

My theory on both these cars is there is no wrong choice. They are both great cars. You will be happy with either

Sorry galaxygrrl, but I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one, you can't compare the ride of acura to the ride of the MB. Thay are worlds apart. Everything in the rsx looks cheap(whether the is top notch or not) the interior is crappy and the ride isn't that great. For him to be happy there's only one choice...C230 Coupe

RSX type s- dulled down type R integra- fast, but only up high, and loud, its gotta be if you need ot float around 7k rpm to get any power Ride is ok, the car definately transmits more of the road to the driver then the c230, but not in a good bmw sorta fashion.

overall its like driving a fast, decently appointed civic.... wait it is a fast, decently appointed civic

my GSR was all the hi strung boy racer for me. Its just annoying being shipped by minivans off the line unless you dump the clutch at 5k

its so nice to drive a car that has decent (certainly could use some more ponies) power all over.... no more sweating getting it near vtec

Sal,

I can see your point, but for 5K less (when you add leather, cd, to the MB which is stock on the RSX) the RSX a good car. I think a good car is a reliabile one Acura wins on that score, it's also a fun zippy little car. And the red lights are cool.

I liked the MB better, but I would have been happy with the RSX.

But to each his/her own.

Oh Heat,

Not to make the choice any more complicated but I heard a RSX r-type is coming out this summer. Talk about power. And Nissan is bring back it's beloved Z. I can't wait to drive that one.

Cheers,

Beth

For me, I could not even consider an Acura. It is front-wheel drive, and I personally had to have a rear-wheel drive sports car as my baseline criteria.

I'm a 100% with you on this one, a sports car should be rearwheel, if the coupe had a bit more umph stock I would leave it stock. But when she get here, Renntech here I come

I drove the C-Coupe and RSX virtually back-to-back (i.e., within an hour of each other) when I was shopping. The RSX felt cheap, light, tinny and vulnerable after the uber-solid C-coupe. I found the RSX interior very gimmicky--but at that point, I hadn't discovered the ridiculous bloomin-benz cup holder. The Benz dash was more boring. The RSX was no spunkier, albeit it was a base model automatic (not a type-S).

Defending the 230!!!

Hi,

I noticed Greg230 is defending the C230 on a different forum thread, which I'm proud of. I'm just older than the RSX demographic.

The car is technically solid and has great ratings from other magazines, but I don't want to get "pidgeonholed" into the stereotypical RSX buyer (16-25, likes to race, loves tons of mods to the car). Maybe years back it would be appropriate, but I don't have that adrenalin pumping, "Fast and Furious" perspective when it comes to cars.

I want something that's comfortable, if I need to kick in the power on the freeway I can, a little adrenaline run all alone every once and awhile, and the feeling of luxury that a Mercedes brings. And to note, I do like the back end design of the car. The whole look is understated aggressiveness.

I was torn before, but I have more clarity now. Wait for the brass ring. Only the best (within my budget).

Looking forward to one day being part of the MB family. Everyone on this board is so much more mature and grounded, it's a pleasure to be in this forum. Thanks everyone!!

greg had a GSR; i had a lowly LS... :p auto... (ok, it was eileen's before we got married)

i love my c-coupé, but i have a lot of fond memories of my acura. it was the most reliable car i've ever owned. wait until the RSX type R comes out.

ask me if the merc is a better car? heck yeah! but that doesn't mean the RSX is a bad car... and if someone gets it, i got no problem w/ that.

don't get a vw.

the RSX screams boy racer...

econobox engine below 7k, screams above
shared platform with civic
cheapo faux aluminum trim
OEM spoiler and body kit

despite that, its a damn nice car, and if mb didnt release the 230 i would have ended up in either an RSX or a audi TT

but then again my price range was 25-40k, and my coupe fell nicely in between about 35.
