For Lights remain on after parking so you can see?

I use to have this feature set on but turned it off not to bother anyone when I returned home late at night. Now I park in my own garage and would like to utilize this feature but can't remember how to turn it on. Any advice?

I always have my lights set to auto and the fogs, city lights and side markers turn on when unlocking the car and also when you turn it off and its dark out side. Also when it senses it is dark out side it turns the low beam lights on its self and when it gets bright it turns them off for you. Is that the feature your referring too?

I think he is referring to "Locator Lighting" or "Surround Lighting". You can set in the IP for those to be ON. Also you can set a headlight delay off but note that the actual headlights will never remain on, just the fogs/city/sidemarkers/tail/plate lights.

On the loaner X3 I have, a quick press of the panic button fires its bi-xenons up.. major useful feature.

Yeah there is a setting in the cluster but you also have to have the headlights set to auto and it has to be dark.

I personally always set it to auto and never thought about it bugging other people.. they aren't super bright and its dark....

If anything turn off the "beep" it does when you lock and unlock the car. That I think would be nicer to the neighbors.

Did some googling...

pg. 71, owners manual...

"Your vehicle is equipped with an acoustic lock and unlock confirmation signal feature. An acoustic signal will sound when the vehicle is locked or unlocked using the SmartKey

If you wish to activate or deactivate the feature, or adjust its signal volume, contact an authorized Mercedes-Benz Center"

I think thats all you need to do for the beep

Yeah I went through my cluster and turned the locator lighting "on" and my car lights are set on auto but it didn't work. I'll try to fiddle with the settings tonight to see if I can figure it out.

I have always had my lock/unlock silent. It's nice to hear the chirp to remind you that you locked the car but I'd rather not have the chirp.

Of note, the Netherlands setting means you lose panic. You can set "USA w/ Buzzer" setting and it will sound like a 2006-07's factory beep. And you can keep panic.

Tri-Star, the fogs don't stay on when you have locator lighting on and the lights on auto? If you're looking for the actual headlights to stay on that isn't going to work.

People in the Netherlands don't panic? I like that feature for finding my car when on occasion I can't figure out where I parked in a large parking lot.

+1
Thats is what we did to matt's car turned the feature on and you can even adjust how loud it is. Cars with the new sam like matt's you have the usa w/buzzer but the older cars like mine you have to use the Netherlands setting.

I'll double check tonight but no I would just like the fogs to remain on like 15 seconds after I exit the car.

Mine doesn't panic either, it just flashes the fogs but makes no noise when I press the panic button. The panic used to work when I first got it but went away randomly. Next time I have the car at the dealer I will have it change so it beeps, thanks everyone!
