I've heard many times from my dad that Lexus and Japanese cars in general are more reliable,
You'll "visit the workshop" about twice as much in a MB vs. a Lexus or Infiniti, at least according the that JD Power survey, which really isn't bad in comparison to the opinions from some around here that MB's have 3, 4 or 5 times the number of problems as Lexus or Infiniti

Like I said before. It is a matter of opinion and how the survey is filled out, as well as a persons expectations. Ford owners may not be bothered by the same things as MB owners or BMW owners or even the beloved Lexus. My parents own a Lexus and even though there are some quality control problems they would not complain becuase those things do not bother them. Were a person buying a Benz and wanting that Benz image may ***** about these little issues. A person owning a POS Ford, which I used to service and my family sold for years, may not ***** because they do not expect perfection. And while we are on Ford being so good, then why is the company faultering and counting on a new F-series pickup to increase sales and profit? A company that in the automotive news in the last few years has had quite a few lawsuits and loses and re-calls than any other manufacturer. But the people Surveyed must have been too backwoods hickish to think there are any problems. The vehicles we used to service had more mechanical problems that the Dodge's we sold and I think Dodge's are pretty bad. So much so that we got rid of that Lincoln/Mercury line as fast as we could. And then the dealership that bought it went out of business cause they could not sell them. Gee, what a shining star of a company. The only dealer for 60 miles and they can't give the crap away. Buell go buy a Ford and I hope it runs great.

Hey they may be unreliable but the C240 and E320 both have 5 star crash and rollover rating by the NHTSA. Not to bad for a Benz, of course they won't roll over or get in any crashes when the are in for service so that helps as well.

Webhost, the survey you referenced is for "initial quality" (problems reported after 90 days ownership). The survey starting this thread is for "5 year dependability". Look at the large gaps between Infiniti and Nissan on both. Weird! Lexus and Toyota are much closer. Look at Hummer on the Initial Quality survey. What a DOG! THat is, if you put any faith into these surveys.
Go to JD Power's website and you'll see ALL KINDS of different surveys, some of which have MB near the top!
