Unhappy My W203 is rubbing :(

Well , I just lowered my car and guess what, my back wheels are rubbing so much

My setup on the back is 235/35/19 with 8" width and ET18 (Stock ET38 + Spacers 20mm = ET18). I removed my spacers and it's ok but looks so ugly

If anybody lowered his car and experienced this kind of problem, please share your solution and best setup for NO RUBBING

Thank you!

Lots of threads about this.....

Looking at your offsets, you should be fine, but your tires might be wider than expected. As a result, you can either use a small spacer (and lugs if needed) or roll the rear fenders and cut the inner tabs that hold the fenders and the bumper (you can cut pretty close to the screw).

Lots of discussion about rolling fenders in Phister's thread and a pic of where to cut is in my thread. Good luck.

I guess i am just constantly missing "the good stuff" on this forum ..

Anyway, i think that you are talking about that piece of plastic that is posted on the last page of your topic. I will cut that, i just tried to roll the fenders with the classic "mightycarmods" method, i saw it in their video and it worked but still rubs, i guess it's that plastic.
(the method i used)

Can you please tell me what is your current setup? Did you modified the angle of your back wheels?

Yea, thats the old school/ghetto way of doing it. Look up eastwood fender rollers - there are lots of people who use them. Much more even of a roll.

For me, I run 18x9.5 ET 33 in the rear w/ 265/35/18 and -0.5deg of camber. I cut that tab and rolled the fender lip quite a bit and also spent plenty of time trying to roll the fender OUT. I also took a crowbar to my rear tab where the fender & bumper meet for a few more mm of space. Overall - no rubbing unless i hit a big bump and have a full load of passengers.

Wow, that means yours are 4mm outer than my rear wheels and you don't rub, that's amazing. I will try to find a fender roller here in my country, i am so glad i don't have to change my spacers. (really love the look with them)

I will get my wheels off and try again to roll my fenders and make some more space there. Thanks man, this is really helpful!

I will ask you one more thing, please explain what have you done with the crowbar cause i didn't fully understand. (sadly, English isn't my native language)

Thanks again!

agreed.. do this you will be free and happy.
just for suggestion, just look for local fender roller or somebody who use to do this thing, it's a lot easier.
if you couldnt find one, do it yourself carefully, you do not want to make ur fender too wide

or maybe just get another wheel that have 9,5 or 10 inches wide with et around 37-27 maybe, with a lil bit stretch tire (max 245/35/19)

Grinding your inner fender will do a lot for you too. When I got my set up at first I was always rubbing. Then once I grinned the sh*t out of my inner fender and now I rarely rub unless I have a lot of people in my car and I hit a fat dip or something. When grinding your inner fender make sure to get this one tab in there, I forget what its called.

Pull and roll pull and roll. That's what I did. You heat up the area where the rear bumper and fender meet. Get a pry bar or crowbar and wrap the handle with a towel just in case it slips and you don't damage the wheel. Put it underneath the area and slowly apply downward pressure to push the area out. It'll give more clearance on dips on back part of the fender.

Thanks so much guys

I can't wait to start rolling and cutting just to put my spacers back. I will keep you updated cause i think that i am going to do this today.

Thanks again for your support and i've seen some movies with the crowbar on the internet where things went bad so i guess that i will just cut and roll )

ET 28 is about right for you wheel width, so if you have your spacer reduced to 10mm it shouldn't rub.

If you're looking to get rid of the 20mm spacers let me know.

Before

And with 20mm SPACERS

No more rubbing, i cut the inner fender, rolled the fender and cut that plastic between the fender and the rear bumper.

Did you guys rolled your front fenders? I hear some rubbing on big bumps but i don't know if it's from the fender or inner fender? Please tell me so i can do them too!

Rolled and pulled the crap out of mine. Be careful the fronts are aluminum so they pull easily.

Thanks phister, then i am going to do mines too!

I have a stressing problem with my H&R springs. After I installed them , i hear some clicking noise on bumps, i read that is because the spirals of the springs touch each other. Some springs come with a rubber case in some places where it's needed, mine didn't come with anything so I guess i just have to put them. Any ideas on this problem? What should i use?

if you mean by a rubber, which is located on the top of the spring, then yes, but in w203 they only located in the rear, that have different heights that you could change it. height may vary 1 to 4 dots, max around 20mm.
and also if you dont use this rubber can cause that clicking noise

the springs might not be seated properly in the grooves. also you might have a loose bolt that is making the noise. make sure all the bolts are tightened all way down on the control arms, hub, struts/shocks. Also is it the front or rear? in the front, sometime s its the top hat not installed on the way on, so the bracket on the top of the strut is hitting the frame. If you pop the hood open and look at the struts, there should be a gap from the metal bracket to the car body. this is normal when you lower the car. if you push down on the front end of the car, the bracket will move with the car, if its not installed properly it'll not move and hit against the body/frame.

.. My springs didn't came with that rubbers, i saw on other H&R springs that they have those rubbers. I need to come with a solution now ..
The sound it's coming from the rear, i guess that when i will get the car on an elevator i will see if the paint on the spring is scratched. I also considered that those were not installed properly but the service where i went changed thousand of this (specialized Benz) so i don't think that there is the problem.

just buy it already in local shop or MB dealer, they usually have, these item are easy to find.
just be sure you got the MB original parts
and yes maybe you will see some scratched on the top of the spring, but it has no effect on anything at all
