CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR AGAIN!
About 1 week ago my mom was at the bank only 2 miles from home and it was 104 degrees in Houston. SHe got back in the car and sputtered and did not start. After trying 2 or three times, it finally started and she was able to get home.
Fast forward 1 week, she is on beltway 8, rainy day 89 degrees outside and... All of a sudden car jerks, shakes rattles and rolls and she has to pull over on the Beltway in North Houston. All the warning lights are on abs, check engine flashing RED MALFUNCTION SCREEN!
I get the car towed to my house...
I get the following codes in order of appearance:
1. P0301 Cylinder 1 Misfire
2. P0304 Cylinder 4 Misfire
3. P0302 Cylinder 2 Misfire
4. P0335 Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction
5. P0300 Multiple Misfire Detected
6. P0221 Throttle / Pedal Positon Sensor / Switch B Circuit
7. P0341 Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Range / Performance B1
I ALREADY had the Crankshaft Positon sensor from ebay ordered...
It finally came the next day and thanks to instructions on here I went ahead and repalced it... YOU MUST USE A 1/4 in' drive with a reverse E8 Torx head AND A 1/4 in. swivel in order to get the darn screw to come off.... DO NOT TRY A 3/8" driver!
Now everything seems ok... Car drives fine and all Errors have disappeared.
I believe that my mom got to around 40 miles from southeast houston where the car was able to get nice and toasty and the crankshaft position sensor failed causing decreased fuel delivery to the engine causing all the misfires making her pull over....
Since replacement I did drive short distances after letting the car warm up on the driveway for about an hour and it seems ok...
My question is about the camshaft sensor... is this failing as well? do I need to replace it or wait until the next episode when I pull the codes again?
Please feel free to chime in...

OK. I drove it 50 miles. Car ran smoothly. When I got to destination and turned off.... I get check engine light AGAIn!
The car drives perfectly fine, but is still showing me the dreaded light!
I will pull codes tomorrow.
Could this be a camshaft issue?
It seems like car drives fine
Smooth no hesitation. I'm puzzled

Went to advance got got my check engine code.
It read P0170 fuel bank 1
I inspected all vacuum hoses. They are tight. I did clean the mad w crc maf cleaner, but I did not disconnect battery. I might have to do that
Also i noticed that my intake elbow between my maf and my throttle body is slightly loose...
How can I tighten this up?????
Thanks

Hi Ahmer,
I know your problem's been awhile back but I'm curious how you finally fixed it.
I replaced the crank position sensor on my 2004 C320 two weeks ago but the Check Engine Light came on. There is nothing wrong with starting the car.. it starts every time and runs fine as if new again.
Do I have to get all the codes reset to better diagnose the problem?
Thanks.

So I had a similar issue. After replacing the sensor, I realized one of the vacuum hoses was ever so slightly loose. I spent 50 bucks on the 3 hoses and my check engine light went away. Just make sure you have no hose leaks as u probably had to remove the mass airflow sensor with its hoses to get to the sensor. This may have led to one of the hoses may be loose.
