W203 C220 CDI manual not much power

Just got the c220 cdi 6speed manual but I kind of feel like its lacking abit of power I have to wait for it to hit 3000 rpm for me to feel the pull which takes quite a while.

Its done about 150,000miles. The smoking looks to be a little too much and I hva an ESP error which the mechanic said was the air bag problem. Coudnt reset it.

FYI I jst imported this car from europe. Will appreciate any assistance made

Do tune up on it and a throttle reset. You have to take it to a place that has star diagnostic to clear it.

Usually not.

Change your plugs, flush your fluids, air filter, check fuel filter. Do a search on the throttle reset, I forgot the procedure it's fairly easy.

Yess thank you I just did research on the throttle reset pretty easy

You say plugs I was told its a diesel so it does not have plugs and I was also advised to do an injector pump flush.

Your diesel engine should develop good power from just above idle speed.

Maximum torque should be developed around 2000 rpm . At 3000 rpm the car should be accelerating quickly.

What coloured smoke is being emitted?.

Blue is usually oil burning from worn rings or valve stem seals .

Black is usually incomplete combustion (fuel)& could be caused by worn injectors , blocked air cleaner & incorrect fuel air ratio settings by computer.

White smoke is usually excessive unburnt diesel when engine is cold.

Take a look at Ausmbtec's complete answer to a similar question on this forum :-https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w203/431095-mechanic-says-catalytic-converter-im-not-convinced.html

Does it always have low power or is it fine then looses power after driving for a while?

Common issues are jammed turbo vanes, air flow sensors, EGR valve blocked, boost pressure sensor faults or vacuum leak to the turbo control valve or damaged intake manifold flaps.

Only having the fault code for low boost pressure and if there is never full power then I'd suspect the boost pressure sensor, vacuum leak or turbo vanes jammed.

Good power than loosing after extending driving (usually constant speeds) mostly jamming turbo vanes.

Cats usually give low power all the time, sometimes after changing the cats the air mass meter dies (it would already be failing, but the sudden increase in air flow takes it beyond it's useful range and trips a new code).

Cats on CDI2 engines (mostly ML270) regularly blocked up in Australia, CDI3 engines rarely block cats unless the driver is particularly gentle. This is due to fuel being more finely atomised/less soot on the CDI3 and later engines.

Thanks for your post

I jst newly imported this car from the uk... Av drivn the 2009 class cdi power is brilliant so I expected the power on this to be low but not this low take off is as tho its being limited lyk it has to really struggle to 3000 revs then speed seems normal after that...

The car also had abit of rust on the body which am told is from the salt...

I drive a standard lexus is200 which I bet could leave the merc in reverse lol

The only error I get on the screan is elec, stab, prog

N today I noticed my brakes squick.

Note:
I don't knw much about mechanics or mercerdes so I will forward that to a good mechanic as the ones have seen seem to only know the basic stuff, ther mercedes dealers here are such rip offs...so am tryna get to know all the probs that I could tackle once I get a mechanic

If she is smoking it's likely overfueling which makes me suspicious of the turbo & turbo wastegate controller.
