Bi Xenon - Need help ASAP
So I made a great purchase purchase on these mint condition OEM Bi Xenon for $600 shipped. Just got the in this morning after cleaning them up to install, I hear a little raddle. Come to find out that one of the tabs on the inside that holds the reflective inner lens, so it wiggles a little. Broke during shipping. I Sold my halogens now I need head lights..The seller says I have to mail them to fed ex and they will mail back to him; he has done claim and once it's settle will let me kno. I have 3 questions.
1. How does that fed ex claim thing work? I didn't know the seller gets the check and then settles with me.....
2. Should I settle outside? And fix the head light?
3. Is this a common issues?
**** Please I need advise ASAP, cause the the seller just emailed me with this info *****

Sorry, I'm not sure if that broken piece is fixable with glue or epoxy. I do have a set of halogens I can sell you and then you can sell them when you get your bix going again... It doesn't help you now but next time sell your old stuff after you get the new stuff working. Ain't hindsight grand?!
Good luck!

with claims on shipping you have to prove to fedex that it was damaged on shipping. since its a good you should be able to file the claim since you inspected the item after deliver. They will contact you and the seller to verify that it was broken during delivery and see if it was their fault.

Ebay i presume?
This isn't really common, but the ebayer may have sent a faulty unit. Contact them again, they usually request you to send it back for a replacement. FedEx will take a while and as phister said you are gonna have to PROVE they did it. So first contact the seller then FedEx

W203 slightly modified
a) there is a special way to ship lamps. You have to cable tie the internals so they dont move.
b) The crack is common for noob shipping.
c) Wurth makes a plastic glue that will fix that
d) Fixing a headlamp is an artform.
e) The seller will claim and you get a refund but finding one headlamp is not easy.

First off let me start by saying thanks, to u Guys for replying and providing feedback.. I have to make a decision by today so ur replys are crucial..
@Yakafeez.... Yes it was off eBay and he doesn't have replacement it's the only pair he has.
- I contacted the seller. Let me tell you this guy is good I mean I never did business with an ebayer that was on top of his game like this guy as soon as I emailed him 20 min later he emailed me with claim numbers and all. He kept in good contact with me and all. So willing-fil to help. Above and beyond. But anyways. I spoke to fed ex they stated that if I wanted to take care of the matter my self to have the seller fill out a form to turn over the claim to me, then that way they can settle what ever needs to be settled with me and not the seller. What you guys think?
- The price is amazing for OEM. Dont you agree?! I mean they are mint! Any better would be brand new! $600 shipped. I haven't found OEM pair under $1000 and I been searching for months. I don't know whether to return them and get a refund? Or keep them and file a repair claim see if fed ex will cover it, I spoke to the seller he said its all up to me, he said what ever I wanted to do is ok with him as long as I'm happy.
- So final question. Which is the most important of all. Should I return and get my $600 refund and keep looking? or should I keep and have fed ex pay me for the repairs?

I would repair that. Easy with some strong epoxy. Benz even sells an external tab kit with epoxy to stick back broken mounting tabs in accident damage should they break. You are lucky to have found OE BiX in good condition.

even though a claim is filed its going to take awhile. the best thing would to buy a good epoxy and disassemble the headlight and fix it. Just make the epoxy is for plastics and is waterproof. It'll take a hour or so to cure but let it sit overnight to fully harden.

I second Glyn's suggestion. Fix the tab with the very strong epoxy, fix the attitude while you're repairing things. For the $600 price I'd be surprised if they weren't sold in that condition. Bi-X with broken tabs seem common on ebay.

Exactly which tab is it that's broken? Some folks are too lazy to take off the bumper to remove the headlights properly,... so they just break the tab.
I seriously doubt the tab was broken during shipping,.. it's one of 3 reinforced tab that holds a heavy headlight to the car,...
Just get some epoxy,... it's cheap,.... and get rid of your sense of entitlement! Oh, you're from Orlando,... that explains it,... the magical kingdom.

I will use a Marine epoxy, you can purchase 3M 5200 clear epoxy, with patience you can do a very clean job. You can ask ebay seller for epoxy cost if this botter you. If the seller do alot of transactions with fedex they resolve very fast. for the price I will fix the headlights.

I stopped selling stuff on ebay and keeping up on their policies
after their stupid SNAD policy years ago, made scamming a full time biz opp for scammers.
Ebay has forums, Fed Ex has a customer service line.
Ask me a car question. MAYBE I'll answer it.
Don't be a dick. Expect that if people don't have an answer, you'll get a lot of reads and no replies.

I wasn't trying to come off as a douche... But if I see someone asking for an opinion and I entered their thread all it takes is 20 second of my time via mobile like me or by computer 10 seconds to leave an opinion. I asked 3 questions only reason I asked the fed ex one is because they can say whatever they want, but wanted someone's personal experience with the matter. What is the point of a forum if everyone is just browsing and not leaving any feed back?! We all on here To communicate with eachother
Who hasn't but if the thread is an informative thread. There's no need to answer, or if it's a yes or no question and it's been answered and been drilled in already to the OP then that's a different story but if I enter a thread that is asking for an opinion then I always leave feed back it helps evolve the forum. But I guess that's just me
BTW: Phister you have always helped out if I ever posted anything on this forum u have replied to... So, thanks for that

Were you expecting every single person who viewed it to respond??? Where do you get this entitlement of other people's time and effort to serve you?
If every single person who viewed it did respond? Would you actually have the common courtesy to respond to each of their post?,... and thank them for responding? Heck,... did you even respond to each of the post that has been posted on your thread? Oh, now your thread now has over 200 views,.... so I guess you would be happy to go through over 200 posts of meaningless opinions,... yes, like mine! Or would you just ignore them? Or maybe each and every one of us who views any of your thread should just PM or email you,... clogging up your email,... would you have the common courtesy to respond to each PM/email? 200 times 10-20 sec (your estimated time) would amount to 2,000-4,000 seconds (33.3-66.6 mnutes),... and counting.
BTW,... probably not a really good idea to use your real name in your poster id and then go around ticking people off.

Despite the fact the I've helped tons of people, often times when I was completely stuck, I would post and ask a question, and have hundreds of hits, and not one reply. Meanwhile, my car sitting on jack stands and I twiddled my thumbs, and finally give up, and put it back together to complete another day.
Things have improved around here greatly in the last number of years,
largely due to our resident old fart, Glyn who has no life and lives to serve his fellow mercedes owners..
MBWorld C Class forum wasn't exactly perceived as a bastion of highly mechanical, or DIY'ers. And for a reason. The most common answer to a question was 'STFF dumasss'.
I can remember asking how to get the damn clips off the fuel filter
and it took like a year to get an answer. The answer was just to just twist 'em off an toss 'em.
And I was asking in a thread where a guy had already done it. He just wouldn't reply.
So, the fuel filter didn't get replaced for like another year.
NOW, if you posted the same question, you'd likely an answer in minutes since so many people have done it now.
But then again, it might take a few days, weeks, or often, never.
Especially if you're the 1st to try to something.
OR if you have a 'tude.
Regarding your Bix, you could file a SNAD (significantly not as described) claim, and either send 'em back, get a refund, OR get a partial refund from EBAY and repair them. I wouldn't want to have to deal with him getting his money refunded while you're still sitting with a damaged units. Oh, wait I mean nothing right? No don't do that.
I don't personally believe that the insides could have been damaged in shipment.
What's the box look like? But yes, file a claim with ebay, so you have a record of it, he'll be obligated to work it out or EBAY will refund your money and then go after the seller.
They have a newer policy where they'll refund a portion for an item that is still functional but less than what the seller represented.
Sending you sheeet back and with no money in hand, ummm...file the claim 1st.
