Fuel System Cleaning at the $tealer
My wife's '06 C230 CPO is less than 70K miles old and I put Techron in the fuel about every 5K miles or so. The stealer is advising me to get a $200 fuel system cleaning (sorry I don't remember the name of it and wasn't told any real details - I figure this is something they all ask their service customers to get). They haven't tried to tell me my CPO warranty was at stake (yet).
I'm skeptical of this. Obviously the $200 price tag is probably way overpriced, but is this something I can do myself? Is it something an indy should do? Or should I forget it and just continue to use Techron (I would continue to use Techron regardless).
Thanks!

Only my opinion, but stick with Techron. Man, 200 bucks
My stealer charged me $157 for fuel injection cleaning at 60k+ Still kicking myself for that one

That sounds like what they're wanting me to get (I may be off on the price, too. They gave me a price on a few things so I might have mixed them up).

On the bottle it is recommended every 3k miles. It's better than going to the stealer for 150+ bucks for fuel injection cleaning. Major rip!!

Use Chevron gas and the Techron is FREE.
You don't need fuel system cleaner unless you are having trouble with sputtering, hesitation, or poor accelration. Makes no sense to use it as a preventitive.
You don't really need Techron from a bottle unless you are having a carbon build-up problem.

I don't think it would hurt anything to try, even if you don't use cheapo gas. I'm gonna give it a shot and see if I can sense a difference. If not, oh well. By the way, since we're on the subject of "fuel" - I used to pump up at Mobil exclusively until I tried Shell V-Power...lets just say I'm never going back to Mobil again.

fuel system clean probably consists of changing the fuel filter, cleaning the injectors, and other little things. Not worth 200 IMHO just continue using the techron since it keeps the injectors and other parts from carb build up.

Thanks everyone! That's pretty much what I figured. We didn't get the cleaner and I'll continue to use Techron!
