The New 2004 Wipers

I recently purchased a 2004 C230K Sport Sedan. Someone asked about the wipers in another thread, so I thought I would post a mini-review...

The wiper arms are somewhat shorter that the 2002/3. The blade is all made of flexible material. There is no metal frame or anything. You would think that they would not work very well, but they do. They clean very well, and do not chatter across the windshield. They even dust off the ws when dry
Here are some pics:

Those look really nice! I've got to agree with truelove, I'm jealous. I wonder if I could just buy the 2004 arm and blade and just swap it with what I have. hmmmmmm

I think it looks kinda dumb. The arm is so thick and fat then u have that little blade.... None of the other models with that style blade have a thick arm like that. BTW do NOT wipe a windshield dry with the wipers, unless u want scratches!

Is the passenger side wiper still on a cam like the pre-2004 model wipers?

I do agree with Al, don't use your wipers on dry glass. I found this out when I hit my knee on the turn signal for the first time. They just did a good job....

You think the excuse "my wipers constantly chatter" will work?

I hate my 2003 wipers, when a bug hits they do not clean the windshield completely, always a spot that drives me crazy. So I have to get out and clean the bug spot with window cleaner.

Another item, just how much water is held in the windshield tank? The manual say 3.2 quarts for those without headlight washer, and 6.2 quarts with headlight washer. I do not have the headlight washer and consitantly put in more than a gallon at a time. I just used up the entire tank and did not clean a bug sopt off I added 6 quarts of demineralized water, it may hold just a little more as I only drained it until the alarm came on.

to expect a wiper blade to clean a BUG off glass is asking far too much imo. I cannot stand people blasting their window with the washer fluid when im driving my pefectly detailed car right behind them to get a bug off their glass. This is one of my biggest pet peeves.

my biggest pet peeves is driving in a considerably VERY quiet cabin with my stereo on and trying to get rain off of my windshield with an extra DJ remix. SQWEAKK..... SQWEAKKK....

Somewhat related the the "dry wipe" caution... Ever notice how it takes a couple of wipes when using the washers before the cleaner hits the glass? They should have set it up so the wipe is delayed for a second or two until the fluid is primed... but then, you engage the washer "through" the mist position so that wouldn't work... oh well. Most cars I've had don't have the "squirt" delay...

Me too!!!!!!!! I hate those people cleaning their windows ESPECIALLY on a sunny day! If your window is that dirty, take it to a car wash!

i had some punks in a honda or acura spray my car with their washer fluid the other day. they had their jets rigged up to spray completely over their car and i was behind them at a light. didn't bother me at all cause my MB is a daily driver and it's not exactly spotless any of the time anyway. and well, i'm in an MB and they're in a honda/acura after all. i just let them get their kicks, dumbasses.

I will have to check the fittings to see if they are the same. As far as the passenger wiper being on a cam, it seems like it works the same, so I assume so.

Hey guys, I was sitting in my parking spot trying to get the bug remains off when I used all that washer fluid.
I never have this problem with my Lincoln Mark VIII, bugs come right off. I have always used the rain off stuff on the Lincoln, maybe that is the reason the bugs come off easily, another layer between the glass and the bug guts. I haven't used the rain off on the new Mercedes yet, maybe it will help.

The C class wipers just don't clean well. The soap mix the dealer put in was VERY strong, enough soap to clean several car exteriors many times over.

My Mercedes is usually spotless, I use Quick shine all the time between waxing. I do HATE the brake dust though, really should clean the rims 2-3 times a week instead of the one time a week I do now. That will change when my brakes get upgraded to C32 status, going with semi metallic pads.

Just a thought, the person who gets upset in their perfectly detailed car when getting sprayed by windshield wiper fluid, might be following too close? Just a thought.

Is there any way for you to find out the part number for those wiper blades? I just called my parts buddy and he has no info on any '04 parts yet, he said MB would be silly if the W203 has a different wiper blade from the W209. Only he thinks we have to change the whole arm. We'll see......

However, some of the W209 owners are complaining about those areodynamic blades, do we really want to change them afterall??

They might also consider not driving. Simply having the car outside means it's dirty, let alone driving it.

Nope I don't mind it getting dirty. I just don't appreciate it when it is someone elses doing that gets my car dirty (spraying the washers, splashing a puddle on my car, etc.) And to the person that said I am following to closely, this actually happened when I wasn't following them at all. I was in the right most lane doing about 60 and the car just gets plastered with all that washer fluid crap which will strip whatever wax is on the car depending on what is in their fluid tank.

First off, those are some way cool wipers! I wish I had those on my c230 sedan! Maybe I'll get them through warrenty somehow

Secondly, yeah, I never clean my windows with the squirting thing unless I'm at a stop. I hate it when other people hit me with their spray while driving.
