Of course the C-Coupe is a real Mercedes. Who it's marketed to, and what price it's offered at has nothing to do with what a "Mercedes" is. It's a car, pure and simple - nothing more, nothing less. Anyone that thinks that it's more than that should take a trip to Europe where you will see Mercedes taxi cabs all over the place.

i was just trying to be funny guys. i'm not ripping on anyone but those who argue die-hard against the coupe for no reason other than their opinion (which they're of course entitled to). just thought all us other folk who enjoy cars for what they are and not what they should be would find it funny.

The C class is made by Mercedes. Is the CLK that is made by Karmann and the G class made in Austria by another firm, are those true MB's or just sold by MB dealers?

i put more merit into who it's designed by than who it's built by. anyone can put together a mercedes. give me enough time and the right tools and i could do it in a garage shop. but i sure as crap didn't put the time, effort and skill into the engineering of the cars. that's what makes an MB an MB. anyone can build a good car, but the really good ones are well designed.

Exactly, so you are saying the CLK designed and built by Karmann and the G-class designed and built by the another company are definetely not true Mercedes then. I knew it, now I want one, a non-Mercedes Mercedes. Now is the Crossfire a true Mercedes because it was design in partner ship with the Chrysler and built by MB? Or is it a half-truth ******* child car? Which is more a true Mercedes, the CLK or the Crossfire?

is there really a car out there with an MB star on it that wasn't touched or designed in any way by MB at all even if it was only an MB supervisor giving the approval and go for the build and design by another company?

there's no need to debate the crossfire since i don't see a star on it and noone would argue in favor of it being an MB anyway (even if it might be).

truelove, I for one, understand the unique nature of your original post. You were simply passing along an example of "relativity" for us to ponder.

Mercedes-Benz has a fleet of lawyers assigned with protecting the use of the Mercedes-Benz name. Ask them if each of these examples are "real" Mercedes-Benz's, and you'll get an obvious answer.

So if a FORD dealer sells MBs and treats both customers the same; i.e. baby wipes, milk and cookies -> FORD will now be considering a rebadged MB.

They used to have the best cookies but now it's these freeze dried supermarket special muffins. The cookies came from a real bakery. On a positive note, they are sooo bad I don't eat them so I don't gain weight. They also would have the best brownies, really good, dripping in fudge and caramel. Jeff, Penny are you watching, bring back those brownies and cookies.


Amdeutsch, I said sells at an MB dealer, so if they sold Fords with the 3 point star and gave me the same treatment then it's a Mercedes to me.

I used to be a truck driver in Germany, so I've driven my share of MB Trucks. They are nice, but they're not the best. My favorite (at the time) was Scania. Volvo also made a very nice LKW. I liked Mann least of all, but I know a lot of drivers really liked them.

This was back in the 80s, so of course, a lot could have changed between now and then.
