w203 subwoofer help

Ive searched all around and can't find an answer. Does my 2006 c230 come pre wired for a subwoofer(I don't have the HK sound system) I'm going to be installing a 10inch sub so I'm either running from the prewire or the rear speakers.
thanks

2005 C Wagon (No snickering please!)
You might want to crawl into the trunk and look up at the package shelf. Your sub might already be installed. It is very thin because of the reversed magnet construction.

The pre-wiring on earleir C class cars was for telephone and satellite receivers. Once the sharp pencil boys in accounting figured out no one was paying $1,200 each for a radio or telephone at the dealers, they pulled the plug on the extra wiring.

Part of the MY2006 cars had already been produced when the pre-wiring was removed from production. You may or may not have it. In no case was there any wiring for premium audio unless the components were installed.

The best place to capture the audio is from the sill below the rear doors. There is adequate power in the trunk. On the left side is a fuse rack. The trailer towing slot is seldom used and can be used to supply current for the sub.

if you dont have prewiring you'll need to use a hi/low converter and tap it into one of the speaker wires.

If my car has pre-wiring for the sub, is it tucked away somewhere in the trunk?

I have the stock speaker system in my car so I think all I could expect would be extensions of LR/RR speaker wires (which would be okay for now).

But I understand there is 8awg going to the rear fusebox so I would have enough to install a powered sub under the rear deck?

Thanks. John

Do you know if LR/RR wiring is available in the trunk as well?

If you remove the carpet in the trunk and the plastic plate underneath it, it looks like theres an amp there for the stock speakers. Not sure though

I didn't pull up the plastic piece yet (was finishing up the stereo install tonight) ... but I did take a picture of what looks like sub-ready wiring peeking out of the side panel. It's also spot-glued to the underside of the deck. Is this my sub wiring carrying signal from the LR and RR speakers?
