Turn Signal Bulb Holder/Socket
Hey Everyone! My front right blinker has been working off and on for the last week or so. I finally had some day light to take a look at it and apparently it's literally just a socket with metal tabs that stick out to make contact inside the housing.
One of the tabs is bent/burnt a little bit. I got it working again by turning it a little.
I want to replace it, but I've been looking online for the last hour or so and I can't seem to find the right part. Does anyone know exactly what it is called or have replaced it on their own car?
And cuz everyone likes pictures

Out Of Control!!
I'm assuming you're talking about the turn signal in the headlight housing? If so, there was a Technical Service Bulletin about the socket housing that I BELIEVE I got in under, as my turn signal was having issues as well. My memory's a little hazy about it, but I think that it was covered.

Yes. I am referring to the headlight housing. I did see the tsb on it. But it's clearly not going to be covered under warranty. So I was wondering if you guys knew where to buy a replacement socket or even a DIY on how to do the tsb myself

MB dealership should have them,....
Try in order,....
001-826-20-82 likely for 1156 bulbs? - $9 approx
001-826-20-82 likely for 21W bulbs? - $12 approx
001-826-34-82 likely for BIX - $15 approx
Best to take yours out and look for MB part# stamped on it or figure out which turn signal light bulbs you have.

Arghhhh,... I know you don't need the bulb,.... you need the socket!
Would you pay $9-15 for a #$&@* bulb? Even at the Mercedes-Benz Stealership???
Take your old socket out and look for a Mercedes-Benz part number on it! That's 100% accurate!
For our generation of CL203,... there are three different series of headlight (foggy, clear, BIX),.... and thus 3 different socket for 3 different type of bulbs,... welcome the world of Mercedes-Benz! And if you can figure out which bulb you have (its printed on the bulb!),.. then you can likely figure out which socket you need without checking for the part number,.... but checking for the part# will be more idiot-proof.

Lol. $9 a bulb sounds about right. Spark plugs for my Jetta and the dealer were $15 a piece. Lol
Thanks for your help. I'll pay the dealer a visit today.

The original socket is no longer available new. A repair kit is the replacement part # 203 826 01 82. Google this part number and you can down load a pdf file on the installation. Unless you have a special tool for the wiring harness, you'll need to splice in the wire. I elected to have the dealer install the kit. I was charged 1/2 hour labour.

Go to your closest junk yard which has a Mercedes c class
and pull it off of their headlights. It wont cost you nearly as much as it would somewhere else. I had the exact problem where it worked then it didnt but I turned the socket the wrong direction and it got stuck then I pulled it out which caused it to break. I went to a Junk yard and got myself a socket for pretty cheap. You could say I got it for free >

I had the same issue with the driver side front turn signal socket of my 2002 C320. Found lots of good info in the forums. I ordered part # 2038260182 from Parts.com for ~$25 and did the repair myself. As 03MBc32 stated, getting the wire out of the harness to attach to the new connector was the hardest part of this exercise. I followed the advice of someone else in the forum and want to pass it along in case you want to tackle the job yourself. "I started using a VERY small jeweler's screwdriver and pushed in on each side of the contact. That bent the two locking clips flush with the contact and the contact was able to be pulled out. I then bent the two clips out slightly again so they would lock into the new connector...". It took me about 5 minutes of wedging the thin little screwdriver in the side and pushing the contact toward the center and tugging at the wire. It did eventually worked itself free.
I ended up doing both sides and the problem (hopefully) is now completely fixed.

turn signal socket
Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere but I could not find it...
I have been in search (for at least an hour ) for a turn signal socket for my 2002 C230. I have attached a pic of it if anyone can help me find this piece.
I attempted to look up the ones that SunnyDayToronto posted but kinda got nothing..

There are several versions of the socket. You will need your VIN and a free subscription to the Startek EPC to determine the correct part number.
For our friends outside the USA, the numbers are A203 826 19 82 and/or A203 826 34 82. Be aware there is a service bulletin concerning this part.

Steering wheel warning won’t turn off
Hi everyone
I’m having an issue with my steering wheel warning not turning off on my 02 C230K. The steering wheel is locked and the wheels move fine but the big red screen on my dash won’t turn off. I’m thinking it’s a wire or something like that but would like to hear what y’all think. Again the actual steering wheel does lock and unlock it’s just the big red warning screen that won’t turn off. Thanks!

Fix without new parts
For anyone who has determined that it's the light bulb socket issue and not the actual light bulb, the problem is that the contact points aren't making adequate contact with the metal in the socket housing. You could buy the repair kit and replace it which should fix the problem but I was able to fix it without any new parts.
You just need to bend the contact points (2 little L-shaped metal flaps) on the light bulb socket outwards a bit with a flathead or something so that it's forced to make adequate contact with the contact points in the housing. No need for new parts cuz there's nothing inherently broken with the part.

unless there's melted plastic on thre contacts like there was one mine.
I did a swap way back for my stnd lights for Bix + cash, and mine had been retrofited
I forget the whole story, but I was there from noon till dark and ended up carefully scraping the contacts on the housing to
get it working. Fortunately it did. Blake was happy.
