W203 service manual & parts lookup tool alternative?
I'm trying to get a STAR Service Manual DVD (part# P 2700 203 07) & MB customer assistance tells me they stopped selling them two years ago. He suggested subscribing to https://www.startekinfo.com/StarTek/ instead.
No thanks.
Does anyone know of an alternative source where I can get it? Not a copied disc from Ebay but the genuine thing. I've tried www.mercedesmanuals.com but they have an older version with an OBD2 code-reader that I don't need.
However, I saw this on Ebay as well, it looks interesting but I'm leery about the "5yr activation keys" - your thoughts/experience with this if you have it is greatly appreciated!

they still sell them you just have to call the 1800 for mercedes number. I actually got mine from my dealer directly. i just gave them the part number and they ordered it for me. you just have to talk to the right people.

Thanks phister, I actually called 1-800-FOR-MERCEDES (1-800-367-6372) & spoke to someone in customer care & got the spiel about unavailability.
My local dealer has a very helpful parts dept guy that has given me good deals on parts, I'll ask him.

The parts guy at the dealer was able to order it! $55 plus tax & takes two weeks to arrive. Thanks for the tip, phister!

no problem man... usually if you have the part# the local parts guy will order it. Just remember you're going to need an older version of windows to run it. I have a laptop just for this purpose.

As to what I know, Mercedes never developed a "manual" for just one model or chassis car. They also did not produce them for use by customers outside the dealerships even though they now do sell them. In certain other countries you cannot buy any Mercedes manual in any kind of format except through a bootlegger.
The latest manual contains the latest information and systems as well as anything that is carried over in your model from a previous model.
If you are looking for step by step instructions to fix things on your car, they don't exist except in the troubleshooting write-ups.
If you are having trouble navigating the CDs, I would recommend to visit the site http://www.manualload.com/b.php/4b - good information source.
The latest manual contains the latest information and systems as well as anything that is carried over in your model from a previous model.

MB guide to pretty much anything you would ever need to do on your car. If you are DIY type of guy/gal you have to buy one!
BTW you can now run it on a win 7 machine maybe even win 8(haven't tried)
