Engine Stalls, No error code
Hey fellow MBer's, Ive been a lurker for a while and now I need your help. I been searching on google but not really any useful info. I have a 2001 C320 and today while driving my engine started sputtering and once I noticed that I made a u turn back home cause I knew this would be bad. 5 blocks away from my house my engine couldn't go any further and just sputters at low idle. My throttle pedal wouldn't rev the rpm any higher, it just sputters at low idle and then dies. My cluster isn't throwing any error codes or anything. What could be the problem? could the computer also be bad for not sensing something wrong with my engine?

The car has 160,000 miles. Fuel filter has not been changed yet. I don't think its the fuel pump when I turn the ignition on without starting the engine I can hear it. And yes it actually has a full tank of gas. I pumped around 11am. Got home 20 minutes later. 15 minutes later drove for about 6 blocks then started feeling the problem.

I would say you got your money's worth out of that fuel filter. Should be on your third by now.
I would also measure the pressure in the fuel loop. Just because the pump can be heard, does not mean it is operating at full steam.
Usually a bad filter is not good one minute and shuts off the next. That sounds more like something broke in the mechanical portion of the fuel pump or an electrical fault. The connection between the engine and chassis can do that. Check the grounds to be sure the connections are shiny and tight.
Measure the voltage between the battery negative and the engine block with the car running. More than .09 volts needs to be traced down connection by connection.

Forget the cluster CEL. Read stored codes with an OBDII scanner & post.
Fuel pressure s/b 3.8 bar or 55 psi at the front fuel rail while cranking.

Hey guys thanks for the responses i appreciate it. Haven't further diagnose the car cause been busy with work. I will definitely check out connection and voltage reading when i get the chance tomorrow.
Initially i thought it was the gas too cause on the receipt it said that the gas attendent pre selected regular gas for me so i called a Mercedes shop and they told me to just add octane booster but it still don't work. Also i filled up my tank when it was already halfway full. So even it was regular gas i pumped then its half regular half supreme

Regular fuel won't cause this. Check as per my link.
Fuel, spark, spark at the right time, air are required. Read codes with an OBDII scanner.
Check.
CPS (crankshaft position sensor)
Coil packs & plug wires,
Air filter & that airbox is clipped down tightly over the MAF
Fuel pressure at the front rail should be 3.8 bar or 55 psi while cranking.
Fuel filter
Start enable fuses 31, 52 & 57
Good luck.

Alright so I thought I would update with the results. Not sure if it was only the pump or the sender but I purchased both from the dealer and installed it. The car is working fine now
