This picture is with the covers off, but the dipstick is accessable with the covers on. That's the dipstick in the lower center of this pic. You can't miss it, it's got a loop on the end.

Shady guys??! Admittedly, I'll have to agree. Looking back, fondly, mind you; I was one of them "shady guys".....Luckily I turned out O.K. One advantage of having that class under my belt is the mechanics have a more difficult time bull*****ting me. I also sent my wife to a beginner's auto shop class. She's a dentist, so she actually assimilated the info quite well. I have a great time watching her spar with mechanics....BIG turn on!

Hey, you guys w/ the coupes have the computer oil check function as well as us sedan guys, right? I think it was another thread long ago where we discovered that the coupes had the physical dipstick in place, which was a surprise. I don't think your owner's manuals talk about the physical stick, right? Just how to check the oil w/ the computer. The sedan engines have a port for a dipstick, but there is no stick there. It's for shop checking. And, for sucking out the oil during a change.

Yup; another feeble attempt of automakers at treating owners like mushrooms.( Keep 'em in the dark and feed them *****) I'm sure the "advanced" piezo electric sensors do a better job at determining lubricant quality, but nothing beats knowing what goes on under the hood. I say, get under there and explore! Be one with the grease! Just watch where you stick your fingers...especially when it's running.
