Tire size for new wheels

well i decided to drop the cash and get new tires for the wheels i just bought. there 8.5 wide and there 18s. i need some advice in the size tire to get though. i travel alot so i want them to fit good so preferably no strech. i really want to do something like a 225 45 up front and a 245 40 in the back even though the wheels arent staggred i still like that wide footprint in the back but i guess thats why im asking you guys lol. the bad thing about that is i cant rotate them. so maybe i should go with 235 40 all around? open to all suggestions

for putting a lot of miles on the car and the ability to rotate I would go with the 235/40 on all wheels honestly. I like the wider tire also and that's what I have but I have a sport and that's what it came with.

you can do different sizes. its just the rotation. I don't think 235 will fit up front. The consensus has been that 225 is the max without rubbing the liners.

Damn rlly? Even on an 8.5 rim? I know my stock one is like 7 or something. I figured 225 would be a light stretch...

The offset is 35 and I mean I don't normally put alot of miles on maybe like 100 miles a week I just go back and forth to work and then sometimes other places but I'm going to Connecticut from Tennessee next month for family and that's a 700 mile trip then ill be moving to Florida next year I just want to make sure it's still a comfortable ride and the rotation is a nice thing but I like the wider tires in the back so I'm not sure.

The rubbing up front comes from the tire being wider and also taller.

Given what you said, it sounds like you want the wider rear so do it! I love it on my sport, and its perfectly safe to use an 8.5" rim with both 225 and 245 tires. 245 width tires are only marginally more expensive than 225's.

Look into tires that mount with "outside" as opposed to a rotational direction. That way you can still rotate left to right if you want.

Oh ok I thought 225 would stretch but I guess not. Alright sounds good. You think I should go with a 45 up front and a 40 in the back to help with the wider tire do there's no ballooning? Or just 40 all around

225 won't be too bad of a stretch on a 8.5" wheel, that's usually the max width tire manufacturers recommend for that size. I've run 195's on an 8.5" wheel before (different car) without issue for at least 10k miles so I highly doubt you'll have any.

As for tire sizes, you have 18" wheels right?
you'll want 225/40/18 and 245/35/18 tires. If 17" 225/45/17 and 245/40/17 to match the oem diameter.
