Activate sunroof closing when raining
For those that have access to a Star Diagnostic system with a Developer key, its possible to activate a feature to allow your sunroof to close when the combination rain/light sensor detects water on the windshield. There are a few different settings, the one I show in the attached PDF indicates its for IMS and rain closing. I have IMS installed so I can't determine if it will cause errors if you choose this setting with IMS installed. There is another setting you can try that I have highlighted in the attached PDF. Give it a shot, I am curious to know if it works for others. My car is a 2007 so I don't know if older overhead control panels (OCP) have these same options. Let us know what you find!

So I guess that means no more sticking your fingers out the back of the sunroof to feel the rain ...!

You bring up a good point, this actually only works when the car has been shut off. If you choose to open your sunroof while your driving it, you can still get wet if you want.

Nice Mustang, how old is that picture? Is it still in that good of shape? Here is a pic of my 68 Stang not long after I stuck the engine in it. You need to get fuel injection, then you have at least one ECM to hook up to! I'm running a Commander 950 with TBI. That way it looks carbureted, but I can tweak fuel and spark maps!

Basically, if you have to ask, you likely don't have it,...
Look at ceiling of your car interior between front and rear passenger area,... is there a dome shaped thingy that houses motion sensor,.... IMS is usually an option for factory alarm in ROW,... internal motion sensor,... so if your alarm is on and someone sticks a hand in your open window,... it triggers alarm,...
IMS Interior Motion Sensors
IMS Unit:
- A2038219751 - IMS Sedan
- A2038219551 - coupe
Cable/Wire Harness A203-540-8206
Bracket Support A203-822-0214 (probably coupe)
And you will need STAR to activate IMS,...

In California you must turn on your headlights when operating the wipers while raining. The car should enter the tunnel mode at the first drops of rain, and turn on the headlights prior to the wipers.
Another note, Mercedes is working on a seat sensor to measure the driver's pulse rate. Can advise you if you are too tired to drive.
I would like to have that connected to the passenger ejection seat so if your date is not hot, out she goes!

Out Of Control!!
I've never really understood IMS. If you're dumb enough to leave your car locked with the windows down, don't you deserve it? And since they Benz keys are so difficult to do, all anyone would potentially do is steal what's within easy access like phone, purse, etc. Which would mean a smash and grab kind of deal, where the alarm going off really wouldn't be much of a deterrant, since the thief would be on their way quickly. It seems to solve a problem that doesn't exist to me.
Since our cars have one-touch up, I don't really get why you would need to have the windows come up when it's raining, especially since I like mine a bit down, even in the rain. Once again, you people have too much spare time on your hands to think about these things.
NC - over a thousand posts, and you hadn't heard about IMS? Oh the humanity!!

IMS is driven by Euro insurance companies to reduce vehicle theft. They have a desire to keep stolen cars where they are. They don't care about your personal items, they don't want your car to be a total loss because it got chopped to supply parts to Eastern Europe wise guys. You know them. They spend their day in a track suit, have a three day growth, a gaudy gold neck chain, name starts or ends with a vowel, and never buys retail if it can be stolen.
